I am planing to get the 2 channel XPA-2. Where do most members have their amp? I have room on top of my rack and also have room on my tv stand on bottom shelf. The stand is a Bush that holds my 52" Bravia tv.. It would look nice in between my 2 paradigm speakers, wires are long enough to amp. thanks in advance.

since heat rises, i'd say place the amp on top. I have my xpa-2 on top, and the usp-1/xda-1/erc-1 on the lower shelves. just mho.

I have my amps in the bottom of my TV stand. I am not a big fan of having amps on the top shelf. I put heavier items toward the bottom and keep the higher shelves for source components.

My XPA-5 and XPA-2 are the two lowest pieces in my rack. It adds stability.

True, But if you have one of these, it is perfectly stable, top or bottom! www.wayfair.com/popups/media_viewer_images.php?sku=VI1182

Heavier loads on the bottom of that rack will have a lower center of gravity than with the heavier loads on top. Lower canter of gravity = greater stability. That's just the way it is...

My XPR-5 sits on the bottom of custom designed & (ventilated) cabinet,...right below the Comcast provided Cicso HD200 HDDVR that puts out FAR more heat that the XPR-5 does! The XPR-5 has to go on the bottom, because the fork lift would fit in my living room/HT!

Norseman, what's that on your top shelf? Haven't seen one of those in a long time.

Well, I think you would need a pair of XPR-1's on top to achieve that!

I like the rack order to follow the signal flow, top to bottom. For example at the top the source (cd player), then dac, preamp and at the bottom the amplifier. This is how we set up commercial equipment.

Less distance to lift them also making a hernia less likely.

Norseman, what's that on your top shelf? Haven't seen one of those in a long time. Ha! - caught me! An old Sony VCR, probably 15 years old now(?), but hey! - its the *lightest* component I own, so it should go on the top, right? Guess its a relic held over from my kids younger days, and the hoards of Disney VHS tapes we still have...that are gradually being replaced with Blu-ray versions. But sadly, the 'ol Norseman seems to be the only one left in our house that still has any interest in animated movies!
