Make room for the new gear

Today I got home from my vacation to be meet by a decent stack. Now the fun begins with modification to my current cupboard so all the new gear will feel right at home.

The first picture is the starting point, the cupboard is mounted to the wall and is made of Ikea kitchen cupboards. The current bench top is made of cement(diy) but I have decided to make a one out of wood instead to fit some of our new furniture better. It will also save me a lot of time and weight. Behind the speakers are some DIY room treatments.

Next in line is picture of test with cardboard boxes just to understand better the actual size of the XPR-1(left) and XPA-1(right) and in the middle we have the Nad C372, I removed the CD-player when I did my testing. I also could do some measuring for the rebuild.

As the stack was just left inside the entrance we normally use I had to move it. When I lifted the second amp on top of the first I thought to myself, what was I thinking ordering these, think some help will be needed when lifting them in place.

Couldn't resist myself to open for a sneak peak. Managed to get the DC-1 out of the box and just decided not even to try with the amp and was just happy to see it the box. I am really impressed of how wellpacked everything is. Was also suprised to see a cord that would fit my socket.

So tomorrow i will go by some material for the build and get started, I will post some more pictures when i'm to tired to build or not aloud to make noice.

So the first build day is completed, started the day picking up my new Supra cables.

As the floor isn't straight I had make my one adjustment that is able to carry some weight over a big area. Trying to avoid pressure marks in the floor.

Time to saw of the 2*2.

The gap created by the vertical 2*2 will be used for cables, this way I can get a clean installation with no excessive cables lying around. I'm planning to have new dedicated outlets mounted in this space as well. There is a total of 10 inch between the wall and cupboards.

The last pictures is the start on the bench top, it will be built out of plank in the sizes 21*45mm, 21*70mm and 21*120mm. I have cut theme in the right lenght and left it to my wife to determine the order they shall be jointed.

So on tommorows agenda is to glue all the planks togheter and also use dowels. Also preapere the wall for some new paint, same color just freshing up.

Sorry for not posting  frequently, been quite busy with multiple projects and 2 days of family/social activities.

The following pictures covers build day 2-5.

Assembling the top shelf took some time as I had to wait for the glue to dry. I have a total of 14 clamps and i had to use them all.

Treated the top shelf with a paint that reminded of light milk.

On the backside of the cupboards I mounted some sound treatment, don't no if its needed but I had some extra lying around. I will put a board on the side of the cupboard so it wont be visible.

Thanks for the concern, but that is basically what i'm doing by putting the hole piece on the floor.

So last night I got to the big moment , unpacking and installing. These things are heavy and well packed. I put the amplifiers on cardboard so that I would be able to move them around.

Arghhh cant upload pictures, something to do with the forum.

But i am enyoing blue lights now in the dark and the family is asleep, even got to see a little blue-light dance today.
