Anyone have any thoughts on what the specs for an XPA-1 Gen 2 might be?

The same........ More or less. The Gen 2 thing is all about marketing. A product gets a little long in the tooth, so it gets a haircut and a shave. Everyone does it from yogurt to makeup and everything else you can think of. Walk thru a store and look at how many things say "new and improved"...

I don't expect much to change power-wise, mostly cosmetics, ie: tiffany style RCA's, toggle switch for "Balanced/Unbalanced" input selector, new front panel trim.

Is the xpa-1 still the flagship or has the 1L with increased class A power trumped it? I think a beefier xpa-1 that held the same wattage specs but went deeper into class A would be well received

Neither of them. The XPR-1 is the flagship.

So the bottom line is that the XPA-1 GII is electrically the SAME as the 'original'?

So the bottom line is that the XPA-1 GII is electrically the SAME as the 'original'? I would not call 60W of class A power the same electrically. That alone makes it a whole different type of amp.

Just to compare: In the Pass line, you have 2 similar amps. The XA30.5 and the X150.5 One, the XA is a high bias design with 30x2 class 'a' watts and a 1% distortion limited 100+ @8 ohms and nearly 200 watts at 4ohms. At those limits, the XA is now firmly biased AB. The X amp.....same weight. output section. Differs in the Bias section and some minor power supply differences. I think the XA uses a slightly Lower voltage transformer. When Pass made an integrated amp.....he used the XA30.5 and the X150.5 as the basis. They are so similar you need to look closely to tell 'em apart.
I'll check it out when specs are available.....until then, at about 75lb, it is just possible to make 60 'A' watts without it cooking itself.
