Ordered a pair last week and they arrived yesterday, very fast delivery. these are some beautiful speakers for the price. They are in my main system right now and sound wonderful. plan on placing them in the bedroom eventually. at 225.00 a pair they are well worth it. I got the red burl finish.

Exciting. It's always good to get more than your money's worth? Didn't Andrew Robinson reccomend these? What equipment are you running them on?

They are being power by an Xpa-2. the source is a Erc -2 through an xda -2 to the xsp -1. Im using all morrow audio interconnects and Anticable speaker wires Oh there's also a Nad Fm/Am Tuner in the chain.

You got some really star class electronics running in there! You can rest assured that speaker is giving you everything it's got! Enjoy! I heard a vintage NAD 20 watt reciever recently and really enjoyed it.

I heard a vintage NAD 20 watt reciever recently and really enjoyed it. I was going to pair these emp teks with the mini x and set up in bedroom. I think Im gonna need more power than that. they are fairly inefficient at 85/1meter. maybe get me the Xpa-200 when i can afford.

I hear great things about this brand.... EMPTek does make quality stuff at a good price and have excellent customer service to boot. Kind of like Emotiva for speakers

Good stuff. I wonder how these EMPTek speakers sound without a subwoofer. Also I'm curious to know how they compare with the Musichall Marimba speakers. I think they are $60-$80 more than the EMPTek E5Bi speakers. I'm trying to help my brother in law with his first stereo sound system but he is on a budget.

It's an either or first purchase IMO not an upgrade path. Both will give you more headroom than a mini-x. Also you have to consider the price of the speakers vs the cost of amplifcation. Larger usually more expensive speakers will get you where you need to be in terms of volume and if carefully chosen can increase your listening quality. More drivers/larger surface area gives you more volume per watt. My axiom m80 towers do get LOUD and also get louder and cleaner with less watts than bookshelves in general. 1 watt usually gives between 80-mid 90's db of volume amd the rest of the watts are really for headroom and the additional watts decrease the percieved loudness increase a LOT as you go past 1 watt. 80-90 db is a LOT. If you want the XPA-200, I would reccomend a used UPA-2 (not upa-200)instead as it has nearly the same components minus XLR inputs, 29 db on the xpa, and some capacitance and usually can be found at half the price. It has very similar internals (two x-series amp blades etc).
