I'm having some problems configuring my new SR-8100, specifically the A/V pass thru from the cable box to the TV when the unit is in standby. I have an HDMI cable running from the cable box (Motorola/Comcast DCH3416) to HDMI 1 on the SR-8100. The HDMI out from the Sherbourn is connected to Input 1 on the TV (Samsung PN58C6500).
Input config on the Sherbourn is: Video - HDMI 1; Audio - HDMI 1; Option HDMI Audio Out - TV; Option Standby Video - On
When the TV and SR-8100 are both on everything works fine, I get good video and audio from the TV. When I put the SR-8100 into standby everything is still OK, no glitches or drop outs. But if I turn the TV off then turn it back on later, with the SR-8100 in standby, I do not get any audio or video on the TV.
Is this is a handshake issue or have I made a mistake in the set-up? Could this be an HDMI cable issue? The HDMI cable from the Sherbourn to the TV is an older one, but it works fine when connected directly from the cable box to the TV on the same input.
Also, this is all set-up on HDMI-1 and Hotkey 2 (HDMI 1). WHen I select Hotkey 1 (TV) I don't get any audio and the audio input not selectable in the input configuration menu.

Not sure what I did, but pass-thru is working properly now. I'll see if I can post some screen shots later.

Well the problem's not completely gone, now it's intermittent; when the 8100 is in standby sometimes I get audio & video to the TV, sometimes I don't. On the 8100 HDMI audio out is set for TV and HDMI standby video is ON. I've double and triple checked all the connections, the cables are all seated properly and they work fine when I run directly from the cable box to the TV. They also work fine when the 8100 is on. The problem is only when the 8100 is in standby and even then it works about half the time. Any suggestions?

Turn off both the TV and 8100 as well as unplug both from the wall for a period of 30 seconds. See if that doesn't fix it. Make sure your standby video setting is correct (it could default back to off when you fuss with other items) Next, try a different HDMI cable or two -yes they can "go bad" just like that. Make sure your CEC settings are all turned off, both on your 8100 and TV (if applicable). If none of these suggestions work please call Emotiva Monday morning and ask for Damon in support.

I've already swapped cables, so unless both are bad that's not the problem. I'll give the unplug suggestion a shot and see what happens. I'm pretty sure I have all the CEC settings disabled or off, but I'll double check. Thanks for the suggestions.

Unfortunately, I've found some more problems. I've run the Auto EQ 3 times so far and the results have been significantly different each time. The first 2 times I got results showing my mains are 11.7 and then 24.2 feet away; 11.7' is correct. Also, I have full range mains (Vandersteen Model 2C), but they are set to SMALL by the program every time. I restored the defaults and re-ran the Auto EQ. This time it said my mains were 24.4 feet away and it set my mains as small again. Also, this morning I had no audio or video to the TV, even with the 8100 turned on and the HDMI input set to HDMI-1. I had to run the HDMI cable from the cable box directly to the TV to get audio & video.

Run the program and let it do its thing, then, go in afterwards and correct the distances where/if needed, for you will not screw up anything. No auto EQ software is perfect, thankfully, EmoQ lets you adjust manually without throwing everything away in the process. In my humble opinion your Vandersteens are not full-range loudspeakers. You may choose to run them that way because you may lack a sub, but EmoQ is correct in assigning them a "small" designation. Again, you can simply change them back to large and you'll be just fine. The HDMI pass through thing is a mystery to me. Call Damon in the morning and see if he cannot help you further.

Sadly, we weren't able to resolve the problem, so I'll be returning the receiver later today. I do want to compliment the Sherbourn/Emotiva customer support staff, they were very helpful, especially Damon. He spent a lot of time on the phone with me trying different set-ups, checking the set-up of my TV, etc. Unfortunately, we were not able to get the HDMI pass-thru to function properly and that was an absolute must-have for WAF. I am very disappointed, because the sound quality when listening to CDs in pure stereo mode was wonderful.

You could have just used that from the cable box for just tv viewing and the HDMI out for surround viewing. Control everything with a good programmable remote.

I have had this problem too. When i turned of CEC on the tv it was fixed most of the part. But i read you put the reciever in standby while its on TV mode?
My experience is that i have to put the receiver in standby mode while in HDMI1 (on the remote) then i can put the tv on and off as many times as i like and it will pass trough the sound and audio.
