Does anyone know when the stealth 88s will come out? Has there been any new information about them at emofest? I've never heard that they're officially being developed. I know that there had been interest from Emotiva staff in getting it made - but beyond that I've never heard a price or date or anything more firm. I'd sure like a pair.... Maybe someone could call Emotiva and ask. Edit: old information was "sometime this year"... Then put on hold. So who knows...

Hello Martin,
Thank you for your interest in Emotiva. The plans for the Stealth 88 have been cancelled. People are not purchasing enough of the Stealth 6 and Stealth 8 speakers to make it a worthwhile endeavor unfortunately. If you have any other questions please let us know.
Best Regards, Nick Kaumeyer Department Head of Sales Emotiva Audio Corporation

Well, that notification all by itself should increase Stealth 8 sales.

Best Regards, Nick Kaumeyer Department Head of Sales Emotiva Audio Corporation Not a surprise to me. The Stealth 6 is an Airmotiv with a different cabinet and higher price. Look at the specs if you doubt this. I've yet to have anyone show me how the Stealth 6 is different from the AM6 other than the price tag. Same drivers - same amp specs = Airmotiv in Stealth clothing IMO. Do you really think Emotiva designed another amp for the Stealth 6? I would imagine the profit margin for Stealth speakers for Emotiva is fat. Manufacturing in China is cheap - I doubt the Airmotiv 6 cost more than $50 to make. For a pair. Shipping is probably the higher cost. You need look no further than ebay and all the stuff that the Chinese sell directly such as the Lepai T-amp. You can buy one for $20 shipped directly from China. Amazon has them for $21 shipped. It must cost the Chinese under a dollar to make it if it sells for that little here. Every middleman gets their profit and it still sells for that little? IMO the Lepai 2021 is a minor miracle.

I own both Stealths and Airmotivs and there is a considerable difference in the refinement of the sound between the two. DJ

Big time bummer here. I can attest for the Stealth 6, I absolutely love mine. I was really enjoying the thought of Stealth 88s for a dedicated 2 channel rig. After having the stealth 6 I loathe the fact of ever having to add bulky amps back to my setup.
I wonder if this is the same issue with the older Emotiva speaker series? It seemed they didn't get enough professional reviews out to sell the old line, which was an INSANE value btw. Also, it is hard for the stereo and HT enthusiasts to grasp to concept of active powered monitors.
I was just in the magnolia best buy yesterday doing some Christmas shopping and for the first time had absolutely no desire to listen to anything. Interesting because I know there is better sound to be had than the Stealths, but their simplicity and all around performance has captivated me.

Yep been keeping my ear on the tracks, yep a train is coming but the Stealth 88, we'll have to stay tuned. I would love them for the ultimate 2 channel experience with my computer, and DC-1, and hi res files. Would be perfect.

The amp for the Stealth speakers is huge (at least the 8). It's a full blown A/B amp with a heavy torriod. And the shape of the cabinets? It costs a few bucks for a cabinet like that. It's well braced and the face has to cost a few bucks to make with its shape (CNC machining). I highly doubt that it's a cash cow. By the time you add in drivers, the cabinet, assembly, the amp (and DSP) and shipping..... I don't know how it compares to the Airmotiv speakers... Active speakers look like they should be cheap and easy to build. In my experience, the parts costs add up in a hurry. I went to look up a picture of the Stealth 8 amp (specifically the guts that are hidden inside)... too bad it's not on the website. I held one @ Emofest 2013. I was amazed. I assumed it would have been a cheapie. It's not.

Oh the Stealths are very heavy. Part of the deal for being so inert. I was blown away how heavy my Stealth 6s' were. A great sign.

Well this sucks...I was really looking forward to a 9.2 channel set-up with a Stealth 88 as my center. I have a pair of 8's for right and left and Airmotiv 6's for rear and rear back...I was going to purchase a pair of 88's for right and left and center..then move my 8's to the rear...this is going to make me rethink my whole system. My main reason for buying the 8's was the pic of the 88's from one of the shows.

Ok, almost 2 years since these were shown. Are they still coming? I'm going to be ready for some soon, or have to re-think my strategy...

There has been no recent indication about the availability of these. The most recent products shown for imminent release are Big/little EGo and SP-1 switched.
Other recent rumors are Class D amps and new htt receiver based on Class D.
Not even a peep about these, that I remember.

It's too bad. I think there would be more interest in these double 8 inch woofer + air motiv tweeter than the more conventional 8 inch unit they have. It may sell more just because it costs more plus all that amp power that comes with it may attract a more high end buyer. It would be ideal to also sell to retail stores. An all in one bookshelf speaker that has the power and driver complement of a large tower. Just add a DAC/preamp. Not a whole lot of LARGE book shelf units out there. Only ones that come to mind. My 8's crush. Total head collapsers. I could only imagine what 5 of them could do.
