I picked up a couple before they sold out. They work extremely well and are whisper quiet. The external adjustable heat sensor works perfectly and they only turn on as required.

I bought three. Two are in service, one as a spare. This is a great product. Has flexibility for venting the air from the cabinet in the front or back, and via an outlet hose (sold separately). Emotiva would be wise to keep making these. emotivalounge.proboards.com/attachment/download/3812

+1 on those sentiments. I bought one to check it out, intending to buy another pair. Alas, I missed out on them as they sold out quick. My rack is open to the back so not sure its 100% needed but like knowing its there as cheap insurance.

I own three C-12 cooling units--one is in current use (since March) and the other two are being stored until I can purchase two more XPA-1L amplifiers. I've been extremely satisfied with the C-12 performance so far and was sad to see this product discontinued. The C-12 can be configured in several ways to suit the requirements. The fans are very quiet, yet still remove enough heat to make a noticeable difference with temperatures. I actually plotted some graphs in Excel to demonstrate the effectiveness of the C-12 for removing heat. I was impressed. At the original (direct) price of $99, it was a great buy. Those who acquired a C-12 at the closeout price got a steal. If Emotiva decides to bring back this product, I will purchase a fourth unit as a spare with no hesitation.

IMO not continuing the production of the C-12 would be a terrible loss to both Emotivas product line and we the consumer! I currently have three and have recommended to my audio buds this unit. They have seen it and await the restock of it. I will be placing one on each amp aver that I own, Ill need two more, Thankyou! Is anyone listening, Ill pay and preorder now if you like.

That's a pretty sweet rack 'o gear, Nick. You can unscrew the front rackmount panel if desired. The actual unit itself is, near-as-makes-no-difference, the same width as your 1L. The panel gives it a bit more finished appearance, though.

Where exactly is the heat sensor located on the bottom of the chassis, I can't see it?

Where exactly is the heat sensor located on the bottom of the chassis, I can't see it? You don't, need the cable if the unit sits directly on top because there is a separate censer in a small hole on the bottom of the unit. The C-12 is really a sweet piece. Nick

OK, this is important.
There are TWO VERSIONS OF THE C-12
The original version has an attached power cord, and has an internal sensor.
The newer version uses a power pack (wall wart), and DOES NOT HAVE AN INTERNAL SENSOR.
If you have the original version, you can use the internal sensor. If you have the newer version, you must attach the (included) external sensor.
Other than that the two versions perform identically.

Interesting. I'd have to pull out the instruction book again but I seem to recall there being mention of internal and external sensors and if the external was plugged in, it overrides the internal.

Interesting. I'd have to pull out the instruction book again but I seem to recall there being mention of internal and external sensors and if the external was plugged in, it overrides the internal. My older unit has the internal sensor as well as a plug-in for an external sensor and that is what is reflected in the manual. Apparently, they just dropped the internal sensor in the newer unit. On mine, there is a small hole in the bottom that's about 1/4" or so in diameter and the internal sensor is mounted just above that hole and inside the case.

With the external sensor the C12 performs the job.

Since Keith has confirmed two different revisions, I'd like to follow-up with a few more details for anyone interested. I own units from both revisions and am familiar with both. Here are the differences I've noticed between them.
Revision 2 units offer:
- a removable power connector with inline switching adapter and regular wall plug (versus a permanently-attached cord) - auto voltage detection and support for 120/240 via inline switching adapter (versus a permanent, factory-set voltage [e.g. 120 volts only]) - variable temperature detection with a screwdriver-adjustable "knob" (versus the two-position Low/Hi switch for revision 1 units) - revision 2 units must use the included external pigtail sensor because the internal sensor was removed (revision 1 units could use either internal or external sensor) - slight cosmetic differences (e.g. the front-mounted silver power button is circular for revision 2 units and elongated for revision 1 units)
Otherwise, performance seems identical between the two.

^ Although the 2RU silver trim doesn't come with the C-12 units, that's a great way to maintain cosmetics if one can acquire the trim separately. It looks spiffy!
