I purchased my XPA-2 from a gentlemen who was using it on a pair of Wilson Sofia's and it sounded wonderful, he sold it as he was switching to an XPR series amp, he is a member here but is rarely signed in on the forum, like I mentioned though they sounded great on the XPA-2 and IMO would only sound better on the XPR series.

I don't know of anyone here with Wilson Audio speakers but everyone I know with the XPR series of amps are very pleased with their performance. They can handle the most difficult of loads. And Emotiva offers a 30 day return policy on all their new gear so if you not happy for any reason, you can return them by paying the return shipping. Keep in mind that they need a 20 amp outlet to realize their full potential but many use an adapter without problems.

The XPR-1's, like all powerful mono bloc's sound spectacular and would sound like any other well made, high power mono bloc or even multi/chan amp. They are neutral in their presentation like all quality amps. They have no real sonic signature in my view.... BTW, Love Sasha's. Wish I could afford some

I was told what the Sofia's cost and can only imagine the Sasha's are worth as much as my 2012 SUV lol, people are always astounded when I tell them I paid $1700 for my RX6's haha

All, Thank You for acknowledging me as new member. And all your responses so far.
Ed, The Sashas are very sensitive to everything up stream. They can sound harsh with the wrong electronics. They have an impedance dip down to 1.8 (ohms, Z) around 90 cycles. My room is quite large 20' wide x 24' deep x 9' ceiling.
I have a 20 year old ARC D400 now, its aging, I'm looking for Amps that can control the bass response and be very smooth. My other options is ARC tubes, but unless you spend $12K or above hard to get enough power.
The idea of the XPR-1 is very intriguing. I'd prefer monoblocks.
Thanks, Bill

The other amps to consider are the XPA-1 gen 2, 60W of class A operation might be interesting to consider.

Thanks, Bill The XPR-1's are 2 ohm stable FWIW. They also put out a TON of power at 2 ohms (more than its 4 ohm rating). What source and pre-amp do you use? I think with the Wilson's you need to have some really stellar DAC's/pre-amps. At the price of sofia's it does beg to be mentioned that you may want to shop a little higher up in the price range. The XPR-1's are NO slouch. I've never heard higher priced amps. But just saying there are bargains at even higher price ranges. Just know that simply shopping higher up isn't going to net you better audio quality than the XPR's unless you choose very carefully. But the XPR-1's are good safe bet. You may also want to consider Bi-amping. BTW your audio research amp is also fantastic

YES, use those Emotiva amps with the Wilson speakers, and THEN tell us all what you think of them. I'd love to know. I'm not in the market for Wilsons, but I often see Carver Amazing ribbons and Apogee ribbons discounted to virtually nothing. Based on your experience with the Wilsons, I might consider either of those ribbon options.

XPR-1's should sound awesome driving your Wilson's. the XPR series amplifiers are outstanding. Forum member arthurz compared the XPR-5 to two Mcintosh monoblocks back in December, and the XPR-5 did EXTREMELY well in comparison. The thread title is: XSP-1+ XPR-5 vs. Mcintosh C-50 + MC-601. It is found under: Processor/ Preamp Reviews. ( Not sure how to link from my phone) Good luck in your search for new amps.

It is so silly that the OP is asking a simple question which so far nobody seems to be able to answer and yet are populating this thread with irrelevant information.....Just in case here is again the question, as I see already this thread going to hell very fast, and quote "Has anyone here tried the XPR-1 amps with Wilson Audio speakers.?"
