Ok, I’m just sick! I’ve been one day since I finished my other project and now I’ve started another. I was pretty much all set to get a pair of Rythmik F15 subs. I started thinking that the rest of my speaker system is DIY and I really should make the subs too! Here’s what I’ve decided so far: Dayton Audio RSS460HO-4 18" Reference HO Subwoofer 4.3 ft^3 enclosure built with 1” Euro-Ply Maple (20 ply) 2” front baffle (2x 1”) Crown XLS 1000 DriveCore Series Power Amplifier (1 to start, 2nd if not enough power) Stads77’s build and a lot of good reviews on the Dayton 18” influenced my pick. I started the drawings tonight so I can get a cut cost from my CNC guy. Thoughts welcome. Stay tuned………..

Rythmik offers CI custom install kits. All you get are the drivers and the amps. The servo driven subs are so much better than the subs I have had or heard in the past. I am not trying to come off as a fanboy, but I love mine. You can DIY them to exactly your liking..
I would hate to see you put the time and effort into building a set of subs and have them not be everything that you expected them to be. Please listen to a Rythmik or another servo driven sub before continuing your build.
The servo driven sub is quicker and has less overhang than any other sub I have heard. I can hear separate events happening in rapid succession as individual events through my subs that were lost to me before in a sea of low frequency rumble. I don't have the education to be able to explain it in more audiophile terms, but the difference is very, very noticeable.

My main objection to their boxes is that they're MDF and I don't really love black boxes for speakers.

Here's another interesting Rythmik option --- dual DS1200 kit with 2 drivers and a 2 module Hypex amp (400W/module) for $829. Drivers can be installed in the same or separate enclosures. www.rythmikaudio.com/DS1200ci.html(Bottom of page)

Drivers can be installed in the same or separate enclosures. www.rythmikaudio.com/DS1200ci.html(Bottom of page) I think you can do the same thing with the F25 in kit form and stay with 15 inch drivers. I initially wanted to build the duals, but Brian did not have the 800 watt plate amp completed at the time of my build. You could build two of the F25s and have two boxes with four drivers or you could build one- using either 1 enclosure with two drivers or build two enclosures with the plate amp on one of them, making the second a slave to the first. OR, what I think is the coolest idea ever: Build a custom freestanding mount for the plate amp, then build two enclosures with one driver in each. Make each of the enclosures slaves to the remotely mounted amp. The possibilities for mounting the amp are endless. You could build it into the side of an entertainment center. You could wall mount it. Think how cool two of the amps would look wall mounted, next to one another in a control room next to your rack. I have not looked at their prices lately, but I assume that the F25 kit would be cheaper than buying a second complete single driver kit.

Chuck, For $145 more, I think the 15 inch set is the ticket. The duals were not available for me. I spent a little more to get the 1510 drivers and two of the 600w amps. Mine are the F15HP CI. Sealed enclosures, just under 4 cubic feet, that shake the house. I am a fan of the silver drivers, I am not sure why. Also, I have never put the grilles on mine. Seeing the excursion of the enormous driver makes them sound that much better...
Let me reiterate, I have never heard a subwoofer that can compare with the speed to start and more importantly stop like a servo controlled sub. I could not be happier with the performance of my Rythmik products.
If I were to need more subs, I would go directly to Brian Ding at Rythmik.

I just learned from Enrico at Rythmik that the Hypex dual kits cannot be used for stereo subs. The L & R inputs are blended and the combined signal is sent to both Hypex modules.
