Hey All,
I got a UMC-200 today and had a few questions regarding setup/operation. Thanks in advance for the replies!
1) Is there a way to completely dim the front information window? I've got a loop of 1-10 steps of brightness, but it does not go completely off like my UMC-1 did.
2) With the UMC-1, Direct listening mode would set the front L/R speakers to full range when playing my music. With the 200, it seems like Direct mode keeps the crossover that's set in the "speaker size and crossover" menu? Is there a way to make the speakers go to full range in Direct mode?
3) Is there a way to add a solid black background behind the info text that pops up with the audio/video information on my TV screen? Having white text on a lighter background is a bit hard to read!
Thanks!

2) Direct mode disables DSP but retains bass management on digital inputs. On analog inputs Direct mode disables both DSP and bass management, providing a pure passthrough. If your main speakers are set to "small" then you will need to use an external DAC for digital sources and connect to an analog input in direct mode. Thanks for answering that for me Gravi! It's a bit of a disappointment that Direct won't work with digital inputs like it does for analog. Ah well!

Whta happens with a direct input if you set your speakers to full range? It should disable DSP and bass management shouldn't it?

Yes, if I set the speakers to full range in the setup menu and then switch to Direct then I get full range sound from the towers. However, if I do things this way, I would have to enable the "enhanced bass" option, which, as I understand it, means that the Mains and the Sub are playing all of the bass below the subwoofer's crossover point. I've been told that this can lead so some phasing issues?

Using enhanced bass is not recommended as it "doubles" the bass output. One option is to switch speaker settings to Large for music ans switch them back for HT, although that is a pain. Personally, I like having a sub for my music listening so leaving the mains as small is not an issue.

I would like having my sub engaged during music as well. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to EQ my sub to blend well enough with my main speakers so far. This is one of the biggest reasons I got the UMC-200, so that I had a PEQ to play with and get everything sounding the way it should! (Hopefully!)
If I can get things EQed and set up properly to the point where I can't hear where my sub is located in the room, then I will definitely be using my sub more than I am now!

This is easily accomplished with just an spl meter, a USB audio interface(like a Behringer UCA222) and REW(which is free from HomeTheaterShack). If you want to go the full range USB mic route, like the MiniDSP UMIK-1, this would replace the spl meter & USB audio interface. P-EQing just the subwoofer channel on it's own does wonders. How to do this can be found in "What's On Andrew's Mind" under the stickied thread "Quick Video Tutorial on Room EQ Wizard", link below. emotivalounge.proboards.com/thread/31713/quick-video-tutorial-room-wizard

Hey LC,
Yes, I should be receiving a UMIK-1 from Cross Spectrum on Monday. I've watched Andrew's video a few times, so I feel like I understand the basics of what's required, but REW is probably a lot more complex than what I'm expecting! I'm just hoping that I can use the UMIK and REW effectively in my room! If I can, I'm super looking forward to that! I am a little concerned at only having three filters to work with in the PEQ though, hopefully it will suffice!

Does anyone know if it's possible to completely turn off the UMC's display?

Does anyone know if it's possible to completely turn off the UMC's display? No, it's not possible. Cheers Gary
