I'm being lazy and not searching through the forum for this information, so please forgive me. If there is a thread already, perhaps someone could point me in the right direction. I was just wondering if anyone knew of a good low frequency test disc that was easy to use. I'm not looking to do any high end testing with equipment or anything. I just want to be able to play constant low level tones to try and find all the rattles and shakes in my media room environment. Something where I can walk around the room while it's playing, located the noises, and then fix them with felt or rubber pads etc. Secondly, my boss is building a new home and this topic came up, and it's something he sounded interesting in having. So while it's always something I've wanted to have and do, it is his house that is now finally prompting me to actually do it. Thanks for any help you can offer. Have a great weekend. Cheers --- Bonzo

I just download the low hz frequency tones via mp3 online and while they are playing check for rattles based on each tone from 10-40 hz

You can also use generator apps to sweep or create any tone/frequency you want. I use the one built into AudioTools (StudioSix), but I'm sure there are others. You do have to get the signal into your system, you can use the headphone jack, but something like AirTunes or AppleTV is more convenient. There are a couple of interfaces, here's the more technical one:
Edit: Looks like we have new limits in pic sizes.

Granite audio low bass test cd, 10-121 hertz in 1 hertz increments! This looks good but no way it's worth the money they're charging for it. Yikes.

I mean it's not like it will get daily play. Too bad they don't just sell it as a CD-R, then it could be cheaper.

Hsu Audio has a test track, plays low bass tones on its web site you have to dig around there site to find it. When I got it there was a warning about killing your subs! shakes the house pretty good without much sound that I could hear. Nick
