Finally decided to purchase a new receiver today. Denon X4000 to replace 2807. Finally installed, really was not that bad, other than internet, still a work in process. Ran room EQ but will have to run again since I did not have both subs in place or the speakers exactly where I wanted them. Overall impression, sounds better. Going to watch World War Z tonight to get a real impression of overall sound. So far so good though.

That will be a good test movie, I was quite happy with the sound, and it had some good LFE in there too! Enjoy, let us know your impressions and congrats on the new receiver!

The x4000 is one I have been looking at as well. Very interested in your impressions and experience with it.

The x4000 is one I have been looking at as well. Very interested in your impressions and experience with it. Set-up very easy thanks to the idiot proof help menu. Sound for OTA so far is vastly improved over my previous 2807. I feel the picture quality is also improved but really hard to say for sure. I have been watching the Vols Florida game on a local channel and the surround is far improved over other receiver. I need to rerun room EQ since I did not have both subs hooked up when I did the first time. For some reason the B & W would not power up when plugged into my Monster Power device. I finally plugged it into a plug on my kitchen counter and it worked instantly, or at least powered up. Not sure why the plugs on the 1800 failed b ut I did find an unused plug on the back of my cable box and it worked. I'll discuss more after I have more time with this thing. I was waiting for the XMC but decided I could wait no longer. I may still get it later once it's released and all the bugs are worked out. I would have gone UMC-200 but I would not be able to update since it's not OS compatible. World War Z, great movie. Sound effects from 5.2 channels was outstanding. Far superior to what I was listening to before.

Sounds like it is working out pretty good so far. I am mostly curious to hear the effect of the latest implementation of Audyssey in these. XT makes a fairly dramatic improvement in my HT but would like to see if there are even further improvements to be had.

That is a fairly expensive receiver. Why did you not consider a UMC-200 since you already have the XPA-5? Finally decided to purchase a new receiver today. Denon X4000 to replace 2807. Also reading many postings on this site, AVS and Audioholics I decided the Denon was the right fit for me.
