Hello Chicagorspec, It's really not practical in my situation right now. I have a shortage of outlets as it is and have a couple sources that share the same outlet on my filter which is a pain as you can imagine. The amp I'm using currently sounds good so it's easier to cope until I get the XPR-1's running. Of course it doesn't help when I'm staring at the XPR-1's. My electrician is going to be installing my panel soon at which point I'll be running dedicated lines for the XPR-1's and other components Thanks for the suggestion.

Kent Glad the emotive cables are working for you.I have never listened to YBA cables,so I don't know much about them.I have heard good things about Audioquest cables, see you have them listed, how do they sound. Also was curious what Shunyata products you have and how you like them.I use a lot of there power cords in my system.

Hello Onstage09,
I am quite impressed with the Emotiva cables regardless of their price. I'm using two full range cables per speaker which works great! I'm sure when my XPR-1's are going they'll like the extra copper between them and my speakers too. The YBA Diamond cables are really good as well. I'm only using one cable per speaker with it split for bi-wiring. I suspect if I was running two full range YBA Diamond cables it would be as good as the Emotiva most likely. I also use YBA Diamond interconnects from my cd player and between the UMC-1 and amplifier.
The Audioquest cables currently in my system are two power cords. I think they are model AC-10 but I'd have to look at them. I also have a pair of Audioquest interconnects model Diamondback that I'm not using right now but they are good for their price point.
The Audio Truth Dragon+ speaker cables I have were Audioquest's flagship at the time (around '95-'99 or so). They feature solid silver conductors and sound spectacular! I haven't used them for years because my pair is only about 3ft long and used with monoblocks at one time.....Sonic Frontiers SFM-75 monos. When I put these cables between my mono blocks and Martin Logan CLS IIz the improvement was huge. I really can't wait to try them again with the XPR-1's and compare them with the Emotiva cables.
I use a Shunyata Diamondback power cord to feed my UMC-1 which works really well. At one time I had this cord on my sub which made it much better too. I do like this cord:)

Amps? Somebody got Amps? ',,,,,,,,,,,,,, WOW! In one word or less. Can you say new speakers, that's what it sound like. Hitting 4 and 5 meter dots. The treble , bass mids all have BALLS now! Only way to discribe it. Had second thoughts when I saw the size of the boxes. I said dang this is going to be too much, I'm not saying that now! Worth every penny, not a scratch or mark on these beautiful pieces of art. Pictures do no justice to these things My room is glowing Emo blue, can you tell I'm ecstatic! Elated! Out of my mind? No critical listening yet, I'm just sitting in awwwwww! Did I say WOW! Thoughts? Out of my mind happy, Nick

Kent Glad to hear the Emotiva cables work so well for you,as we both know its not always about how much something costs.Let me know how you find the Audio Truth Dragon cables compare to the Emotiva. I put some aftermarket power cords on the XPR-1 amps and it made a difference, good difference, to me.So it never hurts to experiment.
Novisnick Congrats on the new amps,i thought you might like them.

Welcome to the forum . I just ordered As set of Rs and can't wait for delivery. There's a lot of nice people here and now your one too Nick, Did you keep your 1l's? Also what made you skip the xpa-1 gen 2 and go to the xpr-1s. I remember Andrew Robinson say that there was not much of a difference and he had a hard time deciding which he liked better. Please give us your impressions between the two.

This is my impression of the amps. I will speak directly to 2 channel stereo sq using Yamaha AVR signature sound profile only for this report. 2 years ago I started with 85 wpc, followed by 115 wpc then 185 wpc. I then went to Emotiva amps, First the PA 5 200, nice sound slight change in profile. Not necessarily a bad thing. This was my first foray into separates.Returned Next i purchased the XPA=5 gen 2, this I think was a small improvement, More in style then audible. Ah the XPA=1L sweet, sound improvement jump. SQ more refined! There seams to be a growing proportional improvement with each growth of headroom. This is not an accident , I think. So, XPA=1 , XPA-1 gen 2, or XPR-1? what to do?At this point I expect Emotiva to be tiered of my a.s returning amps, they made no such comment though I would not blame them. I could see the trend towards the XPR-1, more headroom equals better sound IMHO, lets face it . My Klipsch only need 2 AAA batteries to make sound! He,,,He,,, "Its Alive" The Klipsch are a new speaker now, Its going places I never thought it could go as far as SQ, just incredible! Im NOT SENDING THESES BACK! ive only had 2 hours of listening and non critical, at this point. If you have ROOM and the patents to save $ as I did, the XPR-1 is a no brainer! I hope this answers at least some of your questions, if not PM me and I will reply. Peace, Nick

Welcome Bruce, My first dive into the hi end world was a Sim Audio Celeste w4070 amp, p4001 pre amp and Martin Logan Aerius speakers. I really enjoyed this system for many years. I bought a pair of XPR-1 monoblocks about a month ago but haven't tried them yet. I'm waiting for my electrician to replace my panel box at which point I will run the 20 amp lines......the wait is killing me!!) You indeed have owned world class gear and hearing how good the XPR-1's compare to great amps like the W10 monoblocks makes me rest easier. I will keep in mind they need a break in period before I get too critical about their sound so sincerely thank you for the tip. One thing Emotiva has brought back for me personally with hi end audio is the fun factor. The audiophile snobbery of most (not all) hi end stores was getting old for me. The whole Emotiva experience....customer service, equipment, and even this forum is great! Enjoy Bruce I'm running everything in my sig on one circuit and one outlet and I like it loud. 20 amp circuits are not, not, not needed. Hook them things up!! Do it!!!

Hello Everyone, I finally ran my 20amp/220volt lines and got my XPR-1's running They've been on all day and sound much better than when they were first fired up. I know what you mean Bruce about them sounding muddy at first. I always find any amp to sound this way when stone cold. I will do a critical listen after they have a chance to break in but I'm impressed already. With regard to the front panel metre I can't get it to move? It's just the single blue led. Is there something I'm missing? I checked the manual and played with all the buttons. I even cranked it up briefly to see if that would make them move. Any help is very much appreciated! Thank you! Kent

If you've played with the buttons per the manual, you should be able to see the LEDs light up when you crank it up (unless you are in a small room with very efficient speakers). When I initially got mine, the lights didn't move on one, but they did on the other. I simply had to power that one off at the back panel, then back on. Something had apparently failed in the bootup sequence of the ARM controller. Going into standby did not resolve it, but a power cycle from the back panel did the trick. No issue since and I've had them for months.

Hello Thorcorps,
I have since figured it out and realized I wasn't taxing the amps enough to make the metres jump. Thank you for the help nonetheless. My XPR-1's have been getting a good workout over the last few days and are sounding much better as they break in. They work very well with my speakers. I am very impressed with how detailed and delicate they sound which isn't always the case with very high powered amps. They also sound very relaxed because of their tremendous headroom. My next move is a pre amp because I'm currently using my UMC-1 for two channel which is respectable but I know a great two channel pre amp will be another level of performance.

Kent, Wait till you start hearing things on known sources that you have never heard before. These delicate monsters are just the beginning of a new world of sound. Many a time I've looked up to answer someone and there was no one but the source and myself. I felt silly a few times and even got up to see if anyone was playing games with me. Dynamics are off the charts and you'll swear some one changed your speakers in the night. You only thought you knew your speakers, the XPR-1s will reintroduce you to them as new and improved,,,,,witch is impossible,,,,,you think!!!!! Enjoy!
Peace,
Nick

Hello Nick, They are very impressive indeed I'm very happy with my purchase and would like one for each of my other channels down the road. My sound is better from top to bottom. They are very pleasant and non fatiguing. My speakers are able to play much louder with ease and really like the extra power on tap. Kent
