First time posting on the Lounge
I have listened to a lot of Stereo gear over the years, and spent a lot of money, I know a lot of people have. I always believed you have to spend a lot to get great gear, but not always true as I found out with Emotiva.
I have all Simaudio gear, P-8 pre, Andromeda cd player and W-10 monoblocks. Speakers are Dynaudio C-4 Cables are all Transparent.
My amps had a problem, so off to Simaudio they went. I have had Parasound JC 1 amps and Krell FPB amps in my system over the years. After reading reviews about Emotiva amps I bought a pair of XPR 1 amps to hear how they sound. At first I thought I had made a mistake, but after everything played together awhile they really started to shine. Its been a little over 30 days and the amps sound great. I think they sound just as good are better than the big Parasounds. Simaudio has a house sound that I fell in love with, but I have to say the Emotiva amps are really darn close for a third of the price.
So in the end I have to say, good job Emotiva these are keepers.
Bruce.

Welcome onstage9, interesting to hear your experience with the XPRs in general and in the context of your current and previous equipment. I have been very happy with my XPR1s, never running out of steam on a couple different pair of Thiels which can be challenging loads. I hope you continue to enjoy!

THANKS Chicagorspec I have a pair of Tyler acoustic D-1x speakers (8ohms) as well as the dynaudio C-4(4ohms)and I never come close to running out of power.I could see these amps selling for eight to ten thousand dollars a pair.

Re: fitting the cubic foot object into the 1 square foot area, as long as you've got at least 12" of height to work with I think you'll be good!

Dang you got two high end speakers! Any thoughts on which you prefer? How does the simaudio compare with the XPR-1?

The Tylers are good speakers, great for rock music. The dynaudios raise it to another level, really crisp and clean sound without being harsh or bright. The Simaudio amps are older amps,750 watts into 8 ohms and double down t0 4 ohms so a lot of power with either amp.The only thing that stands out to me is the sim has a deeper soundstage, but both great amps. But for now the XPR-1 monos stay in.

Welcome Bruce, My first dive into the hi end world was a Sim Audio Celeste w4070 amp, p4001 pre amp and Martin Logan Aerius speakers. I really enjoyed this system for many years. I bought a pair of XPR-1 monoblocks about a month ago but haven't tried them yet. I'm waiting for my electrician to replace my panel box at which point I will run the 20 amp lines......the wait is killing me!!) You indeed have owned world class gear and hearing how good the XPR-1's compare to great amps like the W10 monoblocks makes me rest easier. I will keep in mind they need a break in period before I get too critical about their sound so sincerely thank you for the tip. One thing Emotiva has brought back for me personally with hi end audio is the fun factor. The audiophile snobbery of most (not all) hi end stores was getting old for me. The whole Emotiva experience....customer service, equipment, and even this forum is great! Enjoy Bruce

Thanks Kent for the welcome I know a lot of folks don't buy into break in for amps, but they did sound a little muddy at first.I have a lot of aftermarket power cords I use and put a pair on the amps and made a big difference to me.So don't judge to quickly.
Novisnick, the stock power cords six and a half feet long, hope that helps.
P.S. You are going to really like the XBR-1

Thanks onstage09, I agree with you about the break in period. I've heard the differences after a component or cable runs in for a bit in my system. In fact I bought the Emotiva X series speaker cables (4 for bi wiring) recently along with the XPR-1s. I've been using the Emotiva cables for about a month now and at first while they sounded good they didn't sound stellar. They were as you described a bit muddy or not quite as focused compared to my other cables (YBA Diamond). However, now they sound wonderful and I've got the clarity or focus back. They actually sound better than the YBA Diamond and I think it's because of the extra copper using two full range cables per speaker. To be fair my YBA Diamond are a single cable per speaker with one end terminated for bi wiring. The sound I'm getting from very inexpensive (by audiophile standards) cables is awesome! Once I get my XPR-1's running I'm going to compare the Emotiva cables to a set of Audiotruth Dragon+ cables (solid silver conductors) I've be storing for a number of years for fun. I will let you know what I experience with the comparison. Happy Listening!

Kent, since you want to get some break-in done, do you have an Emotiva CMX, a Furman adapter or just change out one outlet to a 20A type so you could do some non-critical using / listening to the XPR-1s while you wait for your 20A circuit to be installed? I've got mine plugged into a CMX-6, and Porscheguy above has mentioned several times he has everything on his signature, including a pair of XPR-1s, driven off a 15A circuit. Might be able to get your break-in out of the way while waiting. Enjoy!

I agree with Chicagorspec, they would be ok on a 15 amp breaker just to break in.Just go to home depot and buy a 20 amp outlet.
