Finally got a chance to hear my stereo.I had a problem with the VPI record clamp which was replaced immediately when they saw it. I've had the TT for several weeks and needed the B&W repaired. Not sure if it has to break in but like the sound already. I think what will take getting use to is flipping the album. Why they call it long play is beyond me. Good thing I went out and ought 40 albums as it doesn't take long to play them. Now time for the fine tuning. The table is a classic 1 and am happy as can be. I'll have to wait until it is lighter outside to get a picture. The tv reflects too much light from the flash to take it at night.

Enjoy . what phono stage are you using or does the the yammy have one? (I didn't check) I just got my Sota Sapphire and am trying to wait for emo phono stage or if patience doesn't prevail, I am looking at the Jolida.

I have the turntable plugged directly into XSP-1. I haven't tried the bass control yet or connecting the AVR to the preamp yet.

As far as the pre amp is concerned, I have no idea of what to compare it to. I like the idea of a mm/mc option. The cartridge I am using now is an Ortofon 2M blue so being able to plug in for a mm cartridge is great.I will say that I am not so focused on replacing my sub woofer as the speakers sound quite a bit more clearer.

Looks like a nice system, the XSP-1 does have a nice sounding phono stage, and as you note it's very flexible on the cartridges you can use with it, I bet the Ortofon sounds good. I'd also guess the 802's have pretty good bass without subs. As for 'LP', yeah well it's all relative, 60+ years ago i guess it seemed long.
