I was using my receiver fine earlier today, but just went to turn it on and it's not getting any power. Upon disconnecting all the connections but power, I noticed that the light on the back of it is showing 230V lit up. I'm in the US and it's connected to a 120V line (though to confirm no issues with the power line, I tried plugging it into a UPS and still had the same issue).
I don't see a switch on it, and I seem to recall it's supposed to be auto-switching, I'm assuming some sort of voltage regulator blew or something. Am I maybe (hopefully?) missing something obvious? If not, it seems likely that I'll be contacting Sherbourn/Emotiva tomorrow.

Read the manual to be sure...I thought it was a switch that's secured in place but a cover but I could be confusing that with my other gear.

as per the photo on the Sherbourn site there is no switch and it is auto sensing, maybe call Emotiva and talk with them.

Just as an update, Emotiva told me I need to open up the case and check inside for a blown fuse, and that that won't affect my warranty. So I'll have to check that out when I get home this evening, I guess.
I was a little surprised, because I'm not really used to that sort of thing being user-serviceable. If that's the issue though, that'd be much quicker than sending it in for repairs.

jhoff80, I am now experiencing the same exact issue. I've just spoken with customer service and was told that I'll need to send my receiver to Emotiva for diagnostics/repair which could take 10 to 15 days.
How was your issue resolved?

I'm having the exact same problem with my 8100. Was working great then tried to turn it on last night and it powered up for a second then went off. Instead of the 115v light, now the 230v light is lit on the back and it flickers a bit. I checked the three fuses on the board connecting to the power outlet and they all look fine.
Any word on your unit yet and what went wrong?

Seems like it's an issue with the power supply. I sent the receiver into Emotiva last week and the only feedback I've received do far is that it's going to take 10 top 15 days for them to fix it. So with shipping, it looks like I'll be without the receiver for nearly a month.

Well, that is not good news! So they think its the torodial power supply? I was hoping it was the board in line before that with the three fuses. I assumed that did the switching and was hoping that it would be a quick swap of parts. I remember reading somewhere on the boards that someone overseas with the same problem was shipped that board and swapped it out himself (its an easy plug and play task, no soldiering). Worked for him and I was hoping it would be the same case so I wouldn't be without it for so long as it is the hub of my system.
I've had to purchase an HDMI switch to send video from my sources to the TV as they are all located remotely. Luckily I have an old Yamaha YSP-3000 sound bar sitting around that I could put where my center channel speaker should be. For now its doing the audio decoding and the new switch is selecting the devices.
Odd that this problem just now seems to be cropping up on these units, hope its not a trend. I guess I'll be contacting tech support when they open tomorrow to hear what they want to do about it.

I may have been a bit too general when I used the term Power Supply. I think your assumption that it's the board rather than the torodial power supply is probably more in line with the actual problem, but tech support's first solution was for me to send the unit in for repair rather than have me do any troubleshooting myself.
I agree that it's annoying to be without the hub of your system for so long. I now just have HDMI wires running from the cabinet to the TV, and I'm using the TV speakers - which is not ideal.

My SR-8100 showed a similar issue after about 6 months but worked after repair. What was interesting was that the unit would occasionally turn on after an extended period of time so it was not totally dead. Along with the flickering light I would occasionally hear a clicking sound. I wonder if this was a common problem with the unit.
Either of you experience any problems with noisy amplifier channels?

Either of you experience any problems with noisy amplifier channels? I get crackling through the left speaker and have to turn off the Sherbourn for a while. Even with nothing playing. It is worse sometimes than others. If I am lucky it will happen for 10 or 20 seconds then go away for long enough to watch one or 2 TV shows. It seems a little more consistant today. Even turning it off for a while has not fixed it. Here is a recording I just did with nothing playing. It is loud enough to hear it from my other room. picosong.com/cB4QI only have 1 source plugged in. 1 Optical cable only, nothing else. No HDMI, nothing else. I brought it and set it up for my father.

I think it's worth a call to Emotiva. I had the same issue with my surround back-left channel - noise over the channel at power-on with or without anything being played. I think it was unrelated to the start-up issue detailed by jhoff80 at the start of this thread but on my SR-8100 the two issues occurred within a day of each other. A fix by Emotiva resolved both issues but the same noisy channel returned about a month later. A second fix has held so far.

Within 30 seconds of turning on the crackling sound starts then just keeps on all the time. Yes time to contact Emotiva again on this issue. I unplugged every input (1 Optical cable) and only have the speakers connected. The noise is there even switching to different inputs.

I did not have any issues with noisy amplifier channels. The receiver just wouldn't turn on one day.
I sent the receiver in nearly 3 weeks ago now and, as far as I know, they still haven't gotten around to looking at it yet.

Skoch, have you reached out to Emotiva yet? I'm curious as to what their suggestion was and if you've gotten a resolution.

Apologies, I barely check this board. I sent it in, and if I recall correctly they had to replace some capacitors on the power supply. I don't remember exactly how long it took, but I'd estimate it was around 2-3 weeks of turnaround time for the repairs.

No worries. I received notice that mine had the same issue - Some capacitors on the power supply needed to be replaced. I asked if the new capacitors are the same spec as the originals and whether or not there are any precautions I can take to avoid this issue happening again, but did not receive a response. I should get my receiver back tomorrow.

I just received mine back today as well. This is what they sent me in regards to the repairs made:
"Repairs completed:
Replaced C10 and C18 in standby power supply, flashed firmware.
Unit passed bench functionality test."
I don't know if it is a new spec part or not, but would be extremely annoying if it happened again next year.

I received mine about 2 weeks ago, and the email I received was very similar. I did have an issue that required me to turn the receiver on twice before it would actually power up. Support suggested that I turn the master switch off for 30 seconds, turn it back on, power up the unit, go into setup and the Load Defaults. This seemed to do the trick, so I figured I would share just in case you run into a similar issue.
