I've never understood the "dual mono blocks in the same chassis" logic. Two power supplies, internally separated chassis, many have two power cords, twice as heavy, twice as bulky, no savings in anything. Except one thing, the "yes dear it's only one box" WAF. One advantage for so many disadvantages, it makes no sense, grow a pair and actually get the proper product not an excuse. Just for clarification, not knocking true stereo amps, just those that pretend to be mono blocks. Happy New Year Gary True but would you knock these bad boys?

dragging up an old thread...
Im not sure that having the power supply isolated to another chassis really fans you that much with the additional power cable length losses etc having to be factored in. Its called a MONOBLOCK for another reason...its ONE BLOCK all enclosed.
Lonnie I am sure there are many who would jump at a $3K MB even if its 2 boxes...many have owned and paid a lot more than 3K and if I know you the meters would be pure analogue not LED too.
I can't go MB's for my 4/5 channel per speaker active speakers...but if I was able to I would. my whole hose survives on a single 32A 240V supply. 2 XPA-5s and aircon almost push that to the limit with the rest of the fridges and appliances ... thank goodness for a GAS dryer and hob.

Gotta ask. Is a "hob" a stove? In Canada we call it a "range". I can't remember if it's regional for stove or oven. And we're not even allowed to have a service under 100A @125 here.

its the top part of the stove...the oven is electric...can sometimes be a separate thing....maybe in my case its a gas top electric oven

I caught that too. My XPA-1 gen 2 monoblocks with real iron, massive torroidal transformer, proven dynamic power, and fully balanced 60 watt class A amps are feeling very obsoleted right now. I just look at them and go....oh boy. Now I have to replace you, my poor obsolete amps. And then say NOT! Hehehe. The latest and greatest switch mode power supply looks to me about about two thirds the size of the torroid found in the mini-x. The mini-x. Pardon me if I look skeptical here. The new "unobsolete" models have none of the features I mentioned right now. How is this a selling point? I have never heard anybody on any forum boast look how light and small my power supply is. Also never heard that being followed up with "And I only spent 50% more to get it too! Isn't that great?!"

With the prior generation Emo amps being as good as they are, I don't think they will be obsolete performance-wise. But if the Gen 3's do at least as good a job, then I can definitely appreciate the benefits of something that doesn't give me back problems. It's like, "What? Give up my 300 lb 32" Sony CRT for one of these flat little things that hardly weighs 20 lbs??? Surely you jest!!! Besides, I couldn't move it even if I wanted to!!!"

No, I dont jest,,,,,,,,,or move large heavy objects by myself!! any more,,,,,,,,, Yes, I do love the size of my 65" tv, but I didnt move or hang it by myself either!,,,,,,,too old for that Schiitt anymore!! XPR-1's,,,,,,,set them and forget them! Except for the exceptional sound that is pumped through them.

I don't see why it matters if an amp weighs 100+ pounds. You put it in place one time and generally never move it again. I like the fact that the Gen 2 amps had some mass to them.

No need for another marketing gimmick IMHO. Just continue to provide great value for money and the clients will flock. Leave the ego out of it. Signature anything implies ego... E-G-O... not good. E-M-O is better than E-G-O! Peace.
