Recently bought a pair of monoblocks and wanted to use the trigger from my receiver to power them on.. I have Pioneer VSX 03 Elite and it wasn't working. Wrote to Pioneer..Pioneer wrote back: The trigger wire is use to turn "ON" only input sources connected to the receiver..
Any other way to utilize the triggers? thanks in advance, great products, great packing, great support!!

How does the Pioneer know if the device is an input source or not before it triggers it on? I agree. It has no way to know and is either simply producing a constant 12V or a latch (meaning that it produces a 12V output for a short duration). Maybe the Pio needs to have the trigger function enabled somehow (in the menu?) and that's why it isn't working.

yes, poor wiring on Pioneers part.. Both inputs are switched "ON" from menu. The section of triggers is covered in the INPUT SETUP MENU page. 12V Trigger 1 / 2: After connecting a component to one of the 12 volt triggers (select main, Zone 2 or OFF)for the corresponding trigger setting to turn it on automatically.. www.pioneerelectronics.com/StaticFiles/Manuals/Home/VSX-03TXH_OperatingInstructions0523.pdfPio still says: example if a DVD has a 12 volt trigger turn on connection, when you connect the receivers 12 volt trigger to the DVD player, it will turn on the DVD player when you select the DVD source on the receiver. That's why you need to assigned the 12 volt trigger wire to that input.

Keith: thanks for the quick reply.. I have the original manual and the problem was that the monoblocks are not in the inputs menu..

Then when you select DVD (or whatever) it turns the amp on instead of the DVD. And your remote can do that for you.

Yes I will do that, starting with my BD player the PS3.. shame on Pioneer for making an external amp a non component..
"Connect the 12 V TRIGGER jack of this receiver to the 12 V trigger of another component". thanks for all the help members. Love the Emotiva amps, insane packing and customer support is top notch..
