I'm really looking forward to this film. Officially, it comes out on Friday, November 8. My local cinemas are running pre-release marathons ( Thor and then The Avengers) starting at 3 PM, followed by Thor: The Dark World at 8 PM. I can't make the 3 PM marathon, but I will be attending the 8 PM opening show! Hoping it will be a good crowd. Unfortunately the opening show is not offered in IMAX, but I'll likely watch it again after opening weekend is over. So who else is going to a Thursday night pre-release showing of Thor: The Dark World?

I still haven't seen Iron Man 3 yet. I just couldn't make it to the theater and now the Red Boxs are always out of it. I'm looking forward to both of these movies but my schedule is full.
That said, I'll just have to make time for what's important.
Captain America: Big man in a suit of armor. Take that away and what are you? Iron Man: Uh, genius billionaire playboy philanthropist.

my daughter is coming down to visit from college grad-school so we will see it Saturday night in IMAX3D. not for the 3D but because IMAX is the largest screen & best sound system we can see it on and hear it so, we'll be there! look at my avatar, of course i'm not gonna miss this!

Sorry folks, I realized I should have added a "I'm waiting for the Blu-ray/DVD" poll option, but it was too late. ProBoards doesn't allow me to edit the poll, only delete and recreate.
Marvel Nut here, too. I plan on purchasing this film on disc, but I also consider my theater viewing to be an evaluation of the film. It determines whether or not I want to own the film later.

What a great film!! It was even better with a rowdy and enthusiastic crowd of fans like myself. Lots of fun. If you have any love for the Marvel universe, definitely give this one a shot. It's full of great action, eye-popping special effects, outstanding comedy and one-liners, and more than a few surprises. Overall decent acting with a straight-forward storyline. subs will be jumping when this is played , lol Oh man, that's exactly what I was thinking during several scenes. I kept wondering how much plaster I'd shake off the walls with my Rythmik sub, and I'm definitely removing the knick-knacks first. Great LFE! EDIT: Be sure to stay all the way through the credits. There are two scenes--one about 25% of the way through credits, and the other at the very end.

I believe this will be a reference film for the audio soundtrack alone. The theater's overall SPL was surprisingly lower than I expected (maybe too many people complained), and I was concerned at the beginning that the dialog would be hard to hear. However, I can say the film's dialog was never lost in the action. It was very clear and focused. Effects were crisp and defined, with plenty of utilization of the surround channels. Excellent LFE as already mentioned.
According to the credits, this film is available in Dolby Atmos (where available). Skywalker Sound was also involved with audio post-production.

Don't ever leave a Marvel movie without watching ALL the way through the credits ie: The Thanos scene at the end of Avengers So looking forward to seeing this

dude, you just spoiled it for the 3 remaining people in the world who haven't seen the Avengers til the credits end! Ha! That shawarma scene was great. I also saw The Avengers on opening night last year (what can I say, I'm a Marvel nut). About 50 or so people stayed until the very end. Most of them started laughing when the shawarma scene started. Great stuff. So last night, I expected something at the very end. There were three people that sat directly behind me and stayed through the credits along with the rest of us (probably 40-50 total). Just before the end-of-credits scene played, one of the guys made a joke about seeing shawarma again. I laughed out loud. Then the entire theater erupted in laughter during that final post-credits scene of Thor: The Dark World. I always sit through the entire credits for every film I see. However, it has less to do with seeing extra clips and more with honoring the folks who made the film. I see it as "giving respect" to all of those involved. I do the same thing when I watch movies at home (even if I've seen them before). Yeah, there are a couple of my friends that find that really annoying, so I make it a priority to see the film by myself at least once so I can sit through the entire credits. Besides, it's great to enjoy the music rolling during credits, as well as learn many things about the film: shooting locations, VFX companies involved, sound production credits, and lots of other interesting details. Oh, and I just pre-ordered this film from Amazon. Yes folks, this is one I will be adding to my collection.
