hi all,
i just came across the beta version for jriver mediacenter for linux. was wondering if anybody gave it a test spin sofar and what the verdict is at this point. since i refuse any form of windows on my pc's it seems like a potentially neat addition to the linux community for audio. it is (at least in it's windows version) highly thought after for decent audio playback. i intend to try it out myself very soon, but have no pc at this point for a proper install. so any experiences would be helpful!
thx, L

Linux version is still quite buggy. JRiver is selling it at a very discounted price so that the early adopters can help them by reporting bugs. Same as they did with the Mac version (which is still a bit buggy as well) that I have.

Cheers m8, L

I'm sure it will happen. That being said from Mac experience they then moved to version 19 and gave a good sized discount for tat upgrade, but the total cost of early 18+discounted 19 was clost to the cost of 19.
I personally think that version 19 should have been included. I'll be waiting for v 20 and just upgrading to it. And I'll be recommending that anyone looking at Linux simply wait unless they really want to be a part of the development process.
Btw the Mac software had gotten much much better.

btw, i just tried an up-to-date (jrivers website) install under linux on my sandbox pc. it wasn't at all about sound quality to begin with, just stable operation (at this point). so far the results include shutdowns of software and sometimes os (ubuntu, latest). i guess far from user-level quality build. maybe also to much files to throw on it!? we will see.
