Well i got the upgrade itch. So let's see some comments.
My current setup is listed in my signature.
Option 1= 3 XPA-1's running my front three speakers while my Anthem mca-2 powers the rears.
Option 2 = XPR-5 w\ 20 amp circuit
I do about 50/50 music to home theater. I like to listen to my music and movies at near reference volume. But ii am also looking for overall sound quality at all volumes, including dialog at low volume.
Any opinions?
And i know that either one of these options may be overkill for my speakers, but my studio 100's handle everything the xpa-2 throws at it just fine. :-)

I'm very happy with my three mono-blocks for LCR. I think your Paradigms would love three XPA-1 amplifiers, as will you. That being said, the Gen2 XPA-1 is supposed to offer a high-bias option to run the first 60 watts in Class A. Otherwise, you really cannot beat the current sale price for Gen1 XPA-1.

Class A amps put out a bunch of heat when you run them in class A. Just thought I'd remind ya Nick

There's a pair of XPR-1 on sale on this forum. They're at a great price.these are your L/R music amps. I vote for these and later another one as the cash becomes avalible. No, there not overkill for two Chanel, I promise!!!! Then again for about the same price you can do the gen 1 XPA-1s. I vote once again to be patient and wait for that last XPR-1. Just my $2.00 worth.( inflation ya know ) He,,,,,He,,,,,
Peace,
Nick

I agee with Nick. Since you said you were looking for the best overall sound quality, the XPR series is what you're looking for. I voted for the XPR-5. Though what Nick said, a pair of XPR-1s to go with it would make an enviable 7.1 system.

beside the fact that i am a die hard 2 channel fan (have to say, not much interest in movies generally, that's my wife's hobby) and in top of it having active speakers at this point.... i was always going for the mono blocks. good pre-amp along with good mono blocks just do the job. also cheaper to replace, if that nightmare ever becomes an issue. plus very short distances amp to speaker (depending on your placement)... i guess it all depends, personal prefs, setup, room.....

im running 100s v5 on xpa 1s with the xsp 1 sound is awesome.. i have the xpa 3 on the center and surround adp 590.. movies are great too.. think you will be doing great with either but 3 xpa 1s for 2400.. sound good to me.. and its mono block... bragging rights! i do wonder about xpr 1s how much you got to blow? highly recommend picking up the xsp 1 for stereo aswell.. put the xpa 2 on the surrounds.. cheers

You should wait if you are going XPA-1's. They are soon to release the XPA-1 gen 2 which have 60 watts class A per monoblock.

Class A operation is toasty for the winter...
If space is at a premium then the XPR-5 is not a bad solution as I am sure if the unit is only operating in 2 channels for Stereo music there will be plenty of power to go around.
If you want some added use for the XPA-2 then maybe Bi-Amp the fronts or use for 7.1 rears or another zone.
