Hello,
I have the first gen XPA-5 and it has a very soft high pitched buzz pitch outputting mainly through the tweeter of my speakers. I know many others have commented on this noise in various reviews and forums. Have Emotiva improved on this with the gen 2 model?
I am certain the noise is coming from the amplifier output, not noise picked up from the receiver pre outs via the RCA cables.
thanks!

With no inputs connected, it should be dead quiet. It may be coming in your power line.

I never heard anything like that when I owned one a while back.

I have the 1st Gen XPA-5 and I have a unit with the hum. With no input connected I get a high frequency hiss, when RCAs are connected to input, some channels has a mid frequency hum.
Already did a lot of tests, in house, in a friends house, even replacing a completely quiet Bryston amp in friends' set and still got the humming from XPA-5.
I also would like to know if the new generation is quieter than the old one.
Regards,

Hello,
Well, i think it turned out to be interference picked up through my RCA cables. I ended up rerouting the RCAs completely away from any power cables and that cleared it up. Will give this ago for a few more days to see if buzzing noise returns.

Nice to hear that Flyingace. In my case, I tried a lot of combination, even using a Blue Heaven RCA IC, and still got the same noise.
Then I went to a friendĀ“s house, who owns a Bryston pre/amp, a very silent system, and replace his amp by XPA-5, and there again the buzz showed up.
Emotiva advised me to sent the unit to be review in a trustful repair shop near here (I'm currently in Brazil). I'm locating a place and should be doing that in a couple of weeks.
Let see what will come up from that.

Just received mine last night the xpa-5 gen2. When I first hooked everything up I was getting a high pitch noise when playing TV through my AVR. Tried multiple power outlets and still had high pitch squeal. Checked connections and then tried again and still had issue. Then decided to try FM radio and the noise was gone. So switched over to DVD/Cd and the noise was also not there. So I then switched back over to TV input and no noise either. Not sure what caused it the high pitch sound but is now gone and the amp is very quite. I am so happy with my purchase. Emotiva really breathed new life into my system.
