... well it makes a ground loop hum from the speakers I know it came from my Oppo but this is my only good source. When I unplug the hdmi cable from the receiver the hum disappear... I have my set-up box plugged in the hdmi input on the back of the Oppo and ethernet cable. Hdmi-1 is the tv and hdmi-2 is the receiver on the Oppo. However, even if I unplug all of this the hum is still there. All my components are plugged in my Monsterpower conditioner, the XPA-2 is in the wall. I tried another powercord, another electrical outlet etc, no change. This is very frustrating, I know this is a good amp and it sounds fantastic with my RF-7. Basses are much more precise and have more impact. The highs are liquid the my ears. But the hiss is very irritating... it's like having a ton of fluorescent lamp around me... So now I will take a beer, relax and listen to the beautiful hiss-hum-buzz coming from my speakers! Cheers!

Try plugging your XPA-2 into the same outlet as your other components. If that doesn't work you could try a cheater plug. Also cable boxes are notorious for ground loops. Try disconnecting that and see if anything changes.

Hum is the nightmare of this hobby, a lot of poeple report hum when they adding a power amp in the chain, but most of the time the hum came from a source or the AVR. In your case it must be from RCA cable.

Well, the noise came back a little bit. When there is no music or the music is very soft I ear a buzz. It stays for like 30 sec and it stops for 5 sec then it came back... So it's intermittent... But I still enjoy the amp very much. I think it's the best amp I ever had! I know a thread is much more fun with pics so here it is... Good night! Attachments:

Well... I'll give you a litte update! I bought a BDP-105 and connected directly to the XPA-2. It replaced the BDP-103d. Best decision ever! What a change in sound quality I cannot believe what I ear now from my RF-7. No more hiss and hum, just nice music... thight and musical. That's it folks, all that to say that i'm very happy with this amp... Good night

just a thought. sell the mit cables and buy some 'bluejeans" custom made cables. a lot less money and made from a company that understands the recording industry and what cables need to be.
i have owned mit in the past. i now own bluejeans and i won't look back.

Good night I have an Oppo 105 as well and I agree that it is one of the best decisions I have made in my HT system however I don't have it connected directly to my XPA-5. It is running through a UMC-200 but it sounds very nice. Glad you don't have the hum anymore.
