Here's a clip of the buzz. Turn your volume up to hear it. My question is, is this a known issue? or a new one? It's not a fault per se but rather just the amp "charging up," which I believe I explained yesterday. Regardless, please contact tech support at 877.366.8324 and we'll be happy to assist you in correcting the issue you're experiencing. Hi Andrew - email from support noted that this is a known issue and a fix is being worked on. I don't agree that the buzzing on startup is normal operations - it should be silent on startup - but am happy to accept a fix if you could post the details here for the benefit of all. Thank you.

Seeker I had a similar noise problem with ONE of my two XPA-1L's. Emotiva quickly sent me a replacement. Now, thankfully, both units are dead quiet. And, the music at Class A (KHorns) is just awesome. I have a little 'hum' using my Emotiva RPA-1 but it is very old ( ). Pleased as punch, now. The sound I heard was tremendous and not like what is posted in some of these postings: one couldn't stand to hear it. Enjoy an EarFull, Patrick

I saw this posted on our local forum...I do repairs for a lot of the Emotiva gear out here in Singapore so no doubt those with issues will be coming to see me if they can't help themselves.
The Emotiva folks look after us very well I must say, shipping out parts rather than owners having to RMA stuff back. It's far cheaper i.e. to replace an XPA amp module locally than to ship even one way - never mind the tax and duty implications of it coming back the other way. FYI it's around US$200+ one way shipping on an XPA-5 back to the USA. I charge a token US$50 to do the replacements in the above example.
Here was the fix posted on our local forum...
For those with the XPA - 1L buzzing issue on startup, Emotiva send me a solution to change out 4 resistors from 300 ohm to 470 ohm. I did that and the issue when away.
Basically, change out R9,10,11 and 12.

what worries me is these are dated back in April this year...these local amps are shipped and received quite recently...so maybe this is a new issue and fix for a similar problem or the same thing has happened again in a new run of amps.

Had the same issue, buzz from the speaker on start-up. Returned the amp three weeks ago, and currently waiting on a reply.

Interesting, 300 ohm resistors are striped orange/black/brown while 470 ohm are yellow/violet/brown so not overly easy to confuse in production. I wonder what the source of the problem is? Cheers Gary

My XPA1L order hasn't been shipped after 5 days. I was told that it would be shipping Friday because "The technical department are holding them". Still no shipping details so I'm guessing that whatever the issue is, it hasn't been resolved yet.
There's 2 XPA1L-sized holes in my equipment rack waiting to be filled...

Jim, I'm happy your amp has been shipped. I sent in an email on 28 Nov about my case, hope that it won't drag further. Frankly while I agree that emotiva's customer service are great, their quality control is not. And that matters alot to overseas buyers. Imagine its Emo's fault and I have to bear the charges for repair and shipping. This is one of the main reasons deterring me from buying from emo. For your fault I was expecting a new piece shipped to me and collection of the faulty amp at emotiva's expense but apparently its not.

received my amp back yesterday ( sent in for fix to buzzing ). Seems the issue has been resolved.
The repair ticket indicated that four resisters had been replaced.
No more buzzing...
peace, don

Yes - the suggested change of the 4 resistors works quite well.

Is it a production fix, so all new ones have the mod done at the factory?
Happy New Year Gary
