I see on the UMC200 product page a new firmware was released in November. No note about what fixes were included but I believe this most recent change puts the UMC200 FW two revisions past the last SR-8100 firmware.
My understanding is that the UMC200 and SR-8100 share processor internals so can we expect to see a new firmware for the SR-8100? (I looked on the Sherbourn site but saw nothing.)

And I'd like to see a firmware for the 120 receiver also, that fixes the PLIIx issue with lossless sources... but not holding my breath.

This is a user forum not really an Emotiva tech support one. The OP's question should really go to Emotiva tech support directly and those answers posted here so we can gripe over them.

I haven't upgraded my 200 since the big mother upgrade. Seems to operate just fine. Wonder what the firmware changes were??

I haven't upgraded my 200 since the big mother upgrade. Seems to operate just fine. Wonder what the firmware changes were?? You bring up a good point. Most users should not upgrade if everything is in working order. This culture of having to have weekly updates tells an old foggy like me that a product that needs updates like that isn't fully developed. Now computer parts needing upgrades is a little different but home audio should be if it working for you, just enjoy the damn thing. Now don't get me wrong, if a certain "feature" is really causing you grief and the new firmware addresses that, by all means upgrade, but if it isn't, just don't. Of course this is only my opinion based on years of computer experience.

I asked here because many companies with forums smartly use them as a place to engage customers and reduce calls to the company help desk. The idea is that many people will often have similar general questions on things like.. ..firmware updates.
I am mostly happy with the SR-8100 but have two issues (previously reported) and it was unclear if these were reported on the UMC200, addressed by the recent UMC200 firmware update, and potentially of value to the SR-8100.
That all said, the lack of an answer means it is probably worth me calling Emotiva tech support. I will post any response answer here. (I would not want to deny fellow forum members a chance to complain.) :-)
PS - I generally agree with the point of only changing firmware when one is experiencing a related issue. (The exception, of course, being when a new firmware brings feature upgrades)
