While searching for possible solutions to upgrade or complete my 2 set-ups, I was fortunate to stumble along this brand and lounge.
I have never owned or worked with separates, but have come to realize the sound I am searching for doesn't seem to exist in a standalone AVR.
All the being said, I would really appreciate any advice on how/where to start the upgrade process. Here is my current equipment, all is interchangeable except the ceiling speakers are where they are.
MAIN SYSTEM TV Sony 52Z5100 Yamaha RX-V465 Blue Ray Sony BDP-S360 Motarola VIP1232 DVR Mains Klipsch RF 7's Center Klipsch KV2 (looking for RC7) Rear CDT 5800-C No sides or SUB
2ND SYSTEM TV Sony KDL-46S4100 AVR HK 345 DVD Toshiba SD-4700 Motarola VIP1232 DVR Mains Klipsch Forte II Center Klipsch Academy
No sides or SUB
Others Pioneer SX-1010 Harmon Kardon HK 430 Twin Power Harmon Kardon AVR 25ii Klipsch KG1.5 Sony CP Player X222ES
The SX-1010 and HK 430 are being restored, plan on just having some 2 channel fun with these. I am not impressed at all with the Yam 465 or the HK 345, I got what I paid for.
Would like to get the main system set to a good 5 ch set-up, and the 2nd system must remain a 3 ch set-up....wife and room design will not acomodate any more speakers. Sorry for the long read....Was thinking about just adding an XPA-200 to each system to drive the mains, and letting the AVR units run the rest...will this work?
Thanks for any help/suggestions in advance. Moit

I would focus on the main system first as I think there are better options to pair speakers you have than the Yamaha. A UMC-200 and XPA-3 would be nice additions. If you decide you want to go full surround or might in the future, pick up the XPA-5.
