I have not tried them personally but have seen mention of them on other sites. I do know they are used in the auto audio arena. (USed to be at least, my auto audio habits don't exist anymore)

Yes, I have a Butt Kicker under the main listening couch in my family room HT system. I like it on movies with lots of LFE. It makes visitors smile!

I too have Buttkickers under my HT riser. I never tell visitors about them but they soon find out! As mine are inside mounted inside the riser and not visible to the eye, it adds to the surprise. You gotta feel the movie! Of course I never use it for music as I can't seem to derive any tactile joy - even from multi-channel SACDs.

So, I just realized that since I don't use my Sunfire sub for 2 channel, I moved it directly behind my sofa for a more physical effect during explosions, car crashes, etc.
This stuff has nothing to do with musicality, but of course amazing for movies -
