Welcome bigmule, get home fast!!! XPA-1L sightings are in your area! You should never leave them alone, I mean unenjoyed for even a moment. You have a set of some of the best amps made! Notice I didn't say the best Emo makes but some of the best made. I've had the great pleasure of owning a pair of these, wish I could have kept them. The next set of monos will be XPA-1Ls unless I hit the lottery for a few bucks.they have a really great sound for 2 channel let me tell ya!
Anyway after you've fallen in love with them , give us an update and review please.
Peace,
Nick

From Columbus area here, welcome! Hi Jim - Thanks for the welcome... Looks like you have an awesome Emotiva system... I'm hoping to obtain an XSP-1...if/when they become available...have you had much experience with the phono section?? I just found out Progressive Audio shut down....I know, I know....I'm a little out of it... I enjoyed them 10 years or so ago....although, last time I went in there the staff was not friendly and they were really trying to sell me a $2000 cartridge when I told them I could only afford a $400 one...still, sorry to see them close.. Regards,

Welcome to the Lounge and congrats on the new gear! Thanks Geebo - Looks like you have a great Emotiva system put together....I'm hoping to obtain a XSP-1 as well....I just wish they were available??? .so is the coffee cup a system tweak or considered an acoustical room treatment?....Regards, More of a state of mind tweak. Depending on time of day and mood, I sometimes substitute it for a wine glass...

Welcome bigmule! Fellow Ohioan and fellow Deadhead! I'm down near Cinci...actually closer to Oxford (where Miami of Ohio is, to those who are not familiar with Ohio). And, I have to go about 7 miles in any direction to even get to a stoplight. Mark (PS to bonzo...didn't know you were near Dayton. What part?) Mark - Thanks for the welcome! That's pretty funny because now when I think of it, I believe there is only one stoplight within about 7 miles from me as well... I used to know a girl that ran a horse stable/lessons near Oxford..I've lost touch with her, but I alway thought that was a nice aree of the state. As I am reviewing all of the posts, there sure are a lot of XSP-1 owners in Ohio!!! Regards,

I see you are an XPR-1 owner...I almost bought a used pair of XPR-1's from a nice fellow in Cleveland, (I even had 2 dedicated 20 amp circuits ran to my living room) but, after much thought, I opted to go with the XPA-1L's so I could divert money towards the other Emotiva items. I'm curious to know..do you plan on replacing the XPR-1's or adding a second system...I thought the XPR-1's were the cream of the crop?? Thanks for the welcome!

I do have a second system and yes the XPR-1s are the Big Dogs and no comparison can be made to them,,,,,,,almost, for I haven't herd a lot of big mono-blocks. I returned my XPA-1Ls so that I could afford the XPR-1s.You cant have everything you know! The Rs are the 1Ls on steroids, a lot more head room and yes the 1Ls have a soft spot in my heart. It was very, very hard to box them up. From what friends here on the forum tell me the XPA-1s are no slouch for sure! and im sure the gen two is that much better but that's just a guess because I havent heard either one of them.. I couldn't imagine boxing up 72 lbs again times two and paying for shipping so I had saved just enough and got a great deal when I purchased my XPR-1s. Anyone reading this post should know that if you can swing the Big Dogs now or later that there worth waiting for.
There is NO "upgradeIduss " after a purchase of these.
What are your thoughts on your Project RM91? if you dont mind sharing. Once again welcome to the ZOO!
Peace,
Nick

Regards, It's a great, friendly bunch here. Yes, I do love the combo of B&W/Emotiva. I really want to move to a pair of XPA-1Ls for the L/R channels, but I just can't at this time. How are you liking the combo in your system? I have really been considering starting over totally...two-channel system only. But, no funds = no gear. Enjoy, C

Regards, I actually have no experience with the phono section, since I don't have a TT. Every once in a while I contemplate getting one. From everything that I've read, the phono section is supposed to be killer. I'm sure that if you start a new thread about the XSP and phono section - you'd get some bites. I believe it's popular for turntables. I'm the same way about Progressive. It's too bad they shut down, but they did have a reputation from what I've heard from multiple people. I never quite understood how they stayed in business for so long on a college campus. I don't normally think of college students as having the budget for high end audio.

Peace, Nick Thanks for the feedback on the amps.....its nice not suffering from "upgraditis".... those amps are huge!!!! The Project RM9.1 is a great table...I moved up from a older Denon DP-47F (which is a great table), but I was looking for a belt drive. The difference was immediate, and not subtle . Everything changed in a good way....I have been buying more vinyl than anything else!!!! I'm not great with words or lengthy reviews, so I will put it this way...If it broke tomorrow, I would buy the same one again, without hesitation. I know there is a lot better gear to be had, but this TT provides me with satisfaction hat I'm not even looking at TT's anymore. I got lucky because the TT has a matching Blue LED - so it will match all the Emo stuff!!! Regards,

Hi Bonzo - thanks for the welcome. I went to the 94 show at Buckeye Lake.. maybe we went to the same show...? what a night..... I'm sorry to say no. But I did get to the 2 Palace of Auburn Hills shows that summer. I'll never forget when they played Satisfaction. I've never heard a crowd so into it before or after. All the sam eher except the long hair. I've always been "follically" challenged. I know that store!. You see I was born and raised in Michigan (Rochester Hills), and went to MSU for 5 years (graduated in 1993). I got my first stereo in 1989 and have slowly built a love of all things stereo ever since. I buy things here and there when I can afford it. I'd love to have all Krell amps with $125,000 Wilson Audio Speakers, but alas, I'm just plain old middle class. Yeah, good for you!!! My wife is one level down from there. She enjoys it enough to discern the differences (after I point them out), and she tolerates my love of it all. So all is well.

Man I didn't realize there were so many others on here from Ohio. Me and a couple of my buddies who lurk but never post much are from the Dayton area. We should have a get together so my wife can see I am not the only crazy guy spending all this money on amps and speakers.

I have an XSP-1 and use its phono section. I had the USP-1, and I always felt it had the best phono preamp that I'd ever had (and I have had various stand-alone units). But, the XSP-1's is even better. It's so good, it makes me think about upgrading my turntable to take full advantage of it! My old Thorens TT and my very old god-knows-what cartridge can surely be improved upon.

Hi there all, I am also in Ohio but not an Emotiva owner yet and over the years on avs forums, etc I have asked around if anyone has a Emotiva home theater setup they wouldn't mind giving a demo of. Of course I didn't get much of a response on that so just noticed here that there seems to be Ohioans out there after all with Emotiva gear viewing the forums. Well I know opening up your house to a stranger is something I would even pause about, but I can tell you that I build my own speakers, have 2 kids, am 41 years old and like long walks on the beach. AND it being the worst winter in Ohio in a long time... that wouldn't be bad about right now! Anyhow, just thought I would take a stab to see if anyone wouldn't mind sharing a demo of their setup. I have been eyeballing the typical setup of getting a xpa-5 and umc-200. Thanks in advance! Paul.

A belated Emotiva Welcome to Bigmule! Unfortunately, neither my Japanese wife nor I have been to your state. However, I know she would like to visit because every morning she says Ohio to me.
