I have 4 ohm speakers and I am thinking of bi amping with channels from a Sherbourn 7-350 amp (550w per channel at 4 ohms using shared power supply) or channels from a Emotiva MPS-1 (300w per channel at 4 ohm with monoblock architecture).
Should I go for the higher power from the Sherbourn or the monoblock design of the Emotiva?
Furthermore, would there be much noticeable benefit to going to XPA-1? About the same watts as two channels from the Sherbourn but in a monoblock design.

I sincerely doubt if you'd be able to discern an audible difference either way. Do you already have one or the other amp? I happen to like the 7-350. You're in an enviable position as you can try things out and return the unit you don't prefer without any out of pocket cost since you're in Emotiva's back yard.

I already own both and both are outside return windows. I'm trying to find the best use of what I currently own.

In that case try out each amp in turn and see which configuration sounds good to you. i really don't think you can lose either way.

I had the Mps and my buddy has the 7-350 and with the same speakers I felt like the 7-350 was a better amp to my ears.

I hook them both up and see which you enjoy listening to more.
