Question 1) What's the difference between "Multi PCM" and "Dolby D"?
I'm still learning the UMC-1, but so far setting it to stereo from the HTPC seems to offer the best balance between music and movies (without manual switching). When I do it that way though, movies come through as "Multi PCM 5.1 channel"... Movies still sound good, and I can't really tell any difference between it and Dolby. Am I missing anything by going this route?
Question 2) I get a Loud static type noise (occasionally) while FF/RWDing live TV from the cable box (TWC/Samsung SMT-H3272).
I had some friends over today to watch the Bengals/Ravens game (WHO DEY! (sorry, couldn't help myself ) ) Anyway, it's scary when it happens and sounds like it has the potential to damage my speakers. Due to my set-up the cable box is connected via Optical in. An HDMI connection won't work with my capture card... Has anyone else experienced this, or have any clue how to fix it short of changing the audio input?
Thanks, Dave
