I'm wondering what exactly is the difference between xpa-2 gen 1 vs gen 2?I've google around but haven't really gotten a clear answer, also is it worth upgrading if you already have a gen1?Also its a ab class amp so how A class watt does the gen 1 and 2 have?

The Gen 1 has a higher gain whereas the Gen 2 has less. There's the physical difference. Other than that, any differences would likely be aurally transparent. As far as Class A; all A/B amplifiers run for, at least, a short period in Class A. No one from Emotiva has commented about when the Gen 2 transitions to Class A. I would assume that it is similar.

Less than 1 watt of Class A, if I remember correctly.

The gain on the Gen 2 allows the amp to perform better (louder) than at 29 db with most AVRs (they tend to have lower output signals compared to pre/pros). I don't think you'll notice the difference between a 29 db and 32 db gain. Also, I don't know about you but $300 speaks to me. If the Gen 1 is what you want I say go for it. The Gen 2 has a 30 day return policy with it that you likely won't get with the used Gen 1. So, my opinion is if the return policy and 3 db less gain is worth $300 to you, go with the Gen 2; else go with the Gen 1.
