Emotiva. Is a new experience for me. I never really spent a lot of time on this forum....regrettably. Lately with trying to make a decision about a new amplifier for my B&W804S speakersI have been reading a lot of Threads and Posts. What I like about this particular forum is the way or the tone that advice is given between one member to another...friendly. I hope to become a bigger fan on the Emotiva forum in the future.
With that said I was deciding on the XPR2 amp or the XPA1 Gen2. A little bit of price difference not one that would break my back but after talking to my better half about finances the initial decision was to go with the XPR2. I understood quickly that there are a lot of people on the Emotiva. Forum that are into mono blocks . In the end the decision is mine and I am not pointing any fingers it is hard to back away from such candid remarks about the XPA1 Gen2 amplifier.
Now how do I tell the Mrs. That I want to spend a few hundred dollars more after agreeing that the price for the XPR2 was all I was going to spend.
The situation is that recently I purchased an additional pair of speakers solely being used for 2channel listening along with a Bryston BDA1 DAC. Not being content I realized I made a poor decision. I am keeping the Bryston but I am selling the Dynaudio Focus 110A speakers and purchasing a new amplifier.
I know....don't ask, but my decision on buying the Dynaudio's (which by the way are awesome speakers) were again a poor impulse buying choice. Instead of focusing on how to improve my already existing awesome setup.
What the hell, my wife knows I am crazy when it comes to this hobby and again she came thru understanding my additive needs.
I am blessed with an understanding wife. Who by the way enjoys our dedicated Home Theater as well as listening to music. She always did said how nice the 804s sounded. After every movie she sits and listens to the closing music and reads the credits.
Well I made my sales pitch and made the decision to pull the trigger on two XPA1 Gen2 amplifiers.
I should be receiving them early this week. Tuesday/Wednesday.
I hopefully will have them connected and in the mix on Friday. I have MIT Terminator cables that have to be modified b/c of the binding posts on the XPA's. I hope to be able to do that myself.
Sorry for taking so long to express my excitement about my latest purchase and also to say I am happy to be a part of the Emotiva forum.
I hope that my improvement to my system will be as exciting when I have everything cooking.
Thanks, Frank
