I will get my new legacy speakers soon ( Signature SE) and are now thinking about amp for them....
They are biamp ready, so i´m thinking about 2 XPA-100 (since they have dual speaker outlets, great for bi amp..) or go for a pair of XPA-1L ( nice with class-A) or the XPA-2 ( POWER)....
What do you think, what will sound the best ??

I like bi-amping. If you buy two XPA-100s all you can do is bi-wire. You would need to buy two XPA-200s to bi-amp.

If you want Class A then the choice is simple, 2 x XPA-1L's. Don't underestimate the POWER of the XPA-1L's either, they are very conservatively rated. From memory the test bench results were something like 360 watts @ 8 ohms and 550 watts @ 4ohms.

The think i also think about is if there are differences in sound between the new Gen 2 amps (XPA-2), and the XPA-1L ? the money is basically the same... what would sound the best ?

The think i also think about is if there are differences in sound between the new Gen 2 amps (XPA-2), and the XPA-1L ? the money is basically the same... what would sound the best ? Personally I prefer the Class A sound and most of my stereo music listening is done at volumes requiring way less than 35 watts. In Class A/B I suspect that the XPA-100 would sound very much the same as the XPA-1L. So if your music listening is mostly done at volumes that require less than 35 watts then you can use the Class A advantage of the XPA-1L. If your music listening is mostly done at volumes that require more than 35 watts then you won't be taking advantage of the Class A from an XPA-1L. Only you know your volume requirements. As for the mono blocks versus stereo amp question, the advantage of mono blocks for me is the ability to locate them close by their respective speaker for extremely short speaker cables. These days a good stereo amp, which an XPA-2 most definitely is, has close to perfect channel separation with zero audible cross talk, so the old advantages of mono blocks are basically gone. So if you're not into Class A and/or you listen at higher (then 35 watt) volumes then save your money and buy a pair of XPA-100's. If you physical set up is such that you can't take advantage of locating mono blocks close by their respective speakers then an XPA-2 is a great choice. None of the 3 amplifiers sound bad and aside from the Class A advantage (that the XPA-1L has), they will have almost identical sonic signatures ie; about as transparent as there is. Cheers Gary

Thank´s for all your inputs !!
I do also enjoy the sound of class-A, but i also sometimes like to listen to a full symphony orchestra or bass heavy music loud... So its a bit of a dilemma.
So i think the best option after some thought is to go with the XPA-1, there i get the class-A option, i get massive power when i need it, i can use short speaker leads and longer XLR cables from my cd-player...
Thank´s and i let you all know how it sounds in the end...
