I could source some aluminium extrusions, cut them to length, route the edges, drill them for mounting screws and change all of the Emotiva equipment trims. I could then get them anodised whatever colour I liked. Aside from the time involved, of which I don't have a lot spare, they wouldn't be genuine Emotiva trims so I would have to revert to the originals if I wanted to sell any. So the preference is always going to be to stay 100% genuine Emotiva. I've never thought of it like that. But could you not make custom stuff, swap it out, and keep the old wrapped up in a soft cloth, in a bag, in a drawer somewhere? Then when it came time to sell you could put the old stuff back on and use the custom stuff as a "bonus" to help the sale. Just a thought. When I was a kid I liked the big rack handle bars on equipment. I wonder if someone has done that to Emotiva stuff? I'm not sure I'd like it anymore, but it would be cool to see. I just like the stock silver trim myself. Brushed black and silver go well together. Eye of the beholder I guess. My DIY sub amp has BMF handles, but they are black not silver. Handles, with rear screw mounting, would be tricky to fit to an Emotiva case, their trim screws are front mounting. Sure I could keep the original trims (and I most certainly would) but if someone wanted to buy say my ERC-3, USP-1 and a pair of XPA-1L's (I'm just about to order one) they wouldn't match. Kinda ruins the idea of selling a matched set of Emotiva stereo equipment. Unless I sell them with my own design trims, not Emotiva originals which fails the "just run in", "in their original boxes", "unmarked" and "pristine original condition" selling pitch. Cheers Gary

Agreed 100%. I think from here on out, for now, they should offer 2 types of trim: - Gen 1 style silver trim that fits Gen 2 components. This helps people who liked Gen 1 look make their new stuff fit better. - Gen 2 style black trim that fits Gen 1 components. This helps people who like the black look move to black, and help them blend with any future components.Of course I don't think they need to do this forever, at least not the black Gen 2 stuff. Anyone wanting or expecting to need it should act while they can. Pony up the $20-$30 per Gen 1 component they own now and buy it when it's available. Just my 2 cents. Cheers ---- Bonzo As I mentioned previously, I can understand for marketing reason why Emotiva may not want to have Gen 1 equipment with the Gen 2 trim. Kinda defeats the purpose of making Gen 2's look different from Gen 1's. But I can't see any reason for not allowing Gen 1 silver trims to be available for Gen 2 products. In my case the ERC-3 (Gen 2 black trim) looks really out of place with a UMC-200 (Gen 1 silver trim) on the shelf directly above it and a USP-1 (Gen 1 silver trim) and an XPA-5 (Gen 1 silver trim) on the shelves below it. I've emailed Sales so I'll await their response. Cheers Gary Hi Gary, did you received a response from Emo sales? I am very interested about this.

I'm going to add some cables to the shipment, so I've asked Nick to hold off a day or so while I do some measuring. Cheers Gary
