I have never heard any of my 4 XPA amps click.

My XPA-1s used to never click, then I had them in stoarge for a while. When I moved, then pulled them out, they clanged away very loudly. Over time, this has settled down to an occassional ting at a much quieter volume. I usually hear it when the amps are turned off and cooling down.

My XPA-5 did occasionally but it was usually in the summer when the room is cold (A/C is always on). My PA-7/350 is very quiet however.

One of my XPA-1Ls clicks when heating up or cooling down. The other two 1Ls don't. I've never had an issue with my XPA-200, UPA-500, or mini-X.
One of these days, I'm going to pull it out and adjust the heatsink screws. It's just a real pain to get at right now.

This subject was extensively discussed several months ago at which time it was concluded that some people's did and some didn't (my XPA amps never did). I believe it was Lonnie (may have been another staff person - perhaps Keith) who explained that due to thermal expansion the heat sinks may click. As to whose did and whose didn't, some did and some didn't. If yours clicks, then you are one of the people whose heat sinks clicks, and if you don't hear anything, most likely yours do not click.

Nope, not an XPA-2, XPA-3 or XPA-5. But it doesn't get very cold here, so the resulting smaller temperature differential (ambient versus amp operating) might be the reason.
Cheers Gary

Not an issue, then. Thanks.

I've had my XPR-5 hooked up for about a year now, but don't ever recall hearing it 'clicking' (or otherwise) from thermal expansion.

My XPA-3 is quiet, but my XPA-1's G2 will clank and click when I flip the switch to Class A mode, otherwise they are also quiet, but I leave all three on all the time. I do not however keep the XPa-1's in class a mode until I am ready to listen to music and don't run them in class a for HT.
Hope this helps.

One of my XPR-1's does if it is put in standby or taken out of standby (usually 3 or 4 tink sounds spread out over an hour or more when warming up or cooling down). I typically leave them on 24/7, so it doesn't annoy me often.
No issues with my XPA-2, XPA-5, etc.

One of my 1L's click when warming up and also intermittently when cooling down while in standby. The other 1L doesn't click at all. I've had 3 UPA-1's, a UPA-200, and still have a UPA-2 and none of them have clicked...

I also discovered that the audible pop I got when changing songs using the USB input of my Oppo BDP-105 was NOT caused by the Oppo. When I switched the same music server from iTunes to JRiver Media Player for Mac, the popping stopped. Only the software changed - so I'm assuming that this is yet another iTunes artifact.
