Chinese made products will gradually become more expensive as the population there demands better conditions, pay, benefits, living conditions, non-polluted water & air and so on. Just like Japanese products did through the 60's & 70's (though the Japanese seemed far more in-tune with preserving their own environment!), until production switches from China to a different part of the world,...again...

I pre-ordered a XSP-1 on Tuesday for $999. I was told they would be back in stock and ready to ship next week. Same for me. Asked Nick about the updates but he had yet to hear from Dan on them. One important update I would like to see is not having the turn the preamp on for bypass purposes, or at least have it turn on to HT BP by default.

That would probably be the only upgrade that would get me to replace mine. (HT BP work w/ unit off.)

One important update I would like to see is not having the turn the preamp on for bypass purposes, or at least have it turn on to HT BP by default. This was actually discussed when the original XSP-1 was released. It was explained that in order to have HT bypass while the unit was in standby mode, the amount of electricity use was near that when the unit was fully powered on. Meaning that even when the unit was "off", you were "wasting electric" so-to-speak. It was decided that in the best interest of our electricity bills, to do the design as it stands. The current/electricity use is very low when powered down, and therefore lowers the cost of ownership IMO. This is all from my fuzzy memory, someone please correct me if I am wrong.

So, pretty much, the US is screwed since we buy practically everything from China. My two percent (if I am lucky) raise per year is not going to cut it, I guess. That makes me feel a lot better.
