I called Emotiva and they don't know the screw size either, but they're sending out a replacement set. Major props for that level of "no questions asked" support! I'll take them to a hardware store and get a measurement on them, then post back here with updated info for others down the road.

I've tried unsuccessfully a couple times now to get an answer to this, so maybe this thread will bear fruit: Does anyone know the screw size used for the trim pieces? Specifically for the UMC-200 (1.5RU), but I assume it's the same for all of them. I have my trim plates but no screws, and taking the whole unit to the hardware store to match thread sizes would be inconvenient. They are metric size and take a metric sized Allen wrench. HD and other large hardware stores have a screw size Identification test plate.

Yes, but how do you match the screw size without either buying one of each to take home or bringing the preamp to the store? You need screws of known size in order to make use of the test plates. I'm surprised the size isn't documented somewhere, since it's presumably the same across all Emotiva products (seeing as the replacement trim ships with hardware that would be useless otherwise), but I'll rectify that as soon as I have my replacements they're sending.

I don't think anyone here has ever needed the thread size, but did need the metric hex wrench size(3mm) for the screw head. I guess no one has ever lost one or more and needed a replacement(s). Emotiva has always been good about helping owners out on stuff like this. Good to hear they've sent you out a set.

Where are the original screws that you can use to get a match? If you don't have them or lost them, this is the first time I have heard of this problem, sorry. Your underlined text is the answer of course.

I bought the preamp from an installer who had set it up for another customer without the trim pieces. I received the trim pieces but not the screws. I saw no reason to go into that level of detail for a simple question. No offense, but a non-answer is usually better than one which makes little attempt at providing anything helpful. For others who have asked about mixing and matching trim and screw colors, it's bound to be useful information at some point.

I was only trying to help including for others who might read your post. Lots of posters leave out detail, I don't read minds. You bought it from an installer (?). Sounds like you got screwed (no pun intended). If you took the plate to the hardware store and first measured the depth of the screw hole you could easily have figured out the metric screw size. Simple solution to and simple question. I'm glad Emotiva helped as that should save you the inconvenient trip to the hardware store. If you look at other threads here on trim pieces, you'll see I have posted a number of times trying to help others on the trim pieces, black and silver, Gen 1&2, and the RU sizes offered. Sorry for irritating you. Are you related to my ex-wife?

Sorry but I do take offense. I was only trying to help including for others who might read your post. Lots of posters leave out detail, I don't read minds. You obviously didn't accept my story at face value, assuming I was either omitting information or being too lazy to take one of my existing screws to the store to check sizing. That's not the sign of someone honestly trying to help. As a result, we've derailed this thread with half a page of worthless back and forth.

I apologize for not being honest about trying to be helpful. No need to apologize. IMHO you are one of the most trying people on the forum.

Not that anyone has been holding their breath, but a promise is a promise. I received the replacement screws from Emotiva, and here are the measurements in case it saves anyone some time searching in the future: M4 x 0.7 thread size, 8mm thread length, 3mm tall head, 3mm allen wrench

Does anyone know if you can order the Gen 2 black trim, obviously not on the site but since I have some Gen 2 gear was wanting some 2ru Gen 2 black trim for my ERC-1, has anyone inquired with Emotiva about this.

Oops just realized that middleman already had answered this question.
On my UMC-200, UPA-700 and XPA-200 I replaced the trims with black nylon plastic grub screws with M4 thread width and 6mm length . I like the little more clean look it gave without the trims.
