No less than 14, and try to keep the cables of equal length ( at least that's the common wisdom).

I'd suggest 12

Overkill in my opinion. I use 12GA for 30' runs and the sound is exemplary...

14 is probably fine. I agree use at least 14.
The differences in wire size aren't really audible.... You won't realistically hear anything different between 12 (or 8 for that matter) and 14.

i have been using the bluejeans 10 gauge, and very very happy. I ran this stuff through the walls, with the idea the biggest cost was really installation and termination, and why skimp on the wire. the cable is $1/ft! i would do it again, and double wire each speaker location with the 10 gauge.... www.bluejeanscable.com/store/speaker/index.htm Belden 10-gauge 5T00UP But downstairs i have 14 gauge to the surrounds, and there is no perceptible difference in sound.. 14 gauge would save about 50 cents per foot. So probably really no sound difference, but given the difference in cost, i would stick with 10 gauge....

with 200w on tap, 16awg is the minimum for up to 50ft. For peace of mind, 14awg is probably best. 12 is overkill. - Sometimes the terseness of my reply can't be blamed on my phone.
