Hi!! Need an advice from the Forum Gurus please. My current set up comprises of XDA2-USP1-XPA2. Media source - PC. The good news is , have almost paid up the Bill Me Later , And it's time to chalk a upgrade . As a part of upgrade , wish to add UMC200 + XPA3 in the setup. My query is , can I configure the UMC200 to give a multichannel out put with a analog signal from the XDA2. Also , how can I bring in the UMC 200 in the existing set up.Will it be XDA2-UMC200-for Fronts usp1 + XPA 2 & for surrounds the XPA3 connected to UMC 200. please advise

You most certainly CAN do so, and it will work fine (you would select something like PLIIx to synthesize surround from stereo). Hi!! Need an advice from the Forum Gurus please. Thanks Keith . And will this be true for the new XMC1 processor too.Can the XMC1 play multichannel with analog stereo input.. My guess is the DAC in the XMC-1 will be as good and more likely better than the XDA-2, so I personally wouldn't be using the XDA-2 and XMC-1 together. I'd go digital direct into the XMC-1 and let it handle the lot. I would also guess that the analogue preamp in the XMC-1 will also be as good and more likely better than the USP-1. As a result I probably wouldn't use the USP-1 with an XMC-1, let the XMC-1 handle it all. So if/when you get an XMC-1 you will most likely have a couple of good components, an XDA-2 and a USP-1 that could formthe basis of a pretty damn good stereo system in another location. Cheers Gary

Thanks Gray!
I did buy the XDA 2 and USP1 last year , so don't think I can invest in a XMC1 right now . On the other hand was wondering if there could be an upgrade to the UMC200 incorporating some new processor tech from the XMC1. The best option would be to wait for the XMC prices to ease a bit.
Thanks-

Hi!!
Please , I have one more doubt - How does the PT 7030 compare with the UMC200 for multichannel playback for an analog input.
Was thinking ,in the future, for an upgrade , PT 7030 can get 40% upgrade coupon where as UMC 200 will give only a 25% coupon. And in terms of performance and functionality both will compare well.
Please advise-
