Why have you decided it's not for you? What source are you feeding it and at what resolution?

I had it last in my chain of devices so it was getting a feed from my oppo, cable box, and gaming systems..... all resolutions at 720p or 1080p. It did an amazing job on some movies and nothing on others. I found I had to adjust the effect sometimes as to what I was watching I'm REALLY lazy and this was kind of a pain. I was really intrigued by the darbee and had to give it a try, I really liked it on documentary and nature type programs.

Interesting... I was only asking as to make sure you werent feeding it say a BellTV signal with your echostar STB set to 1080i or something like that.
How does it do with interlaced material not that I'd ever be feeding it an interlaced signal as I have BellTV and all other transport is progressive IE DVD, Bluray and HTPC.
I take it your display's native rez is 1080p right?
Does it do any 5:5 etc? I guess not because the TDMS gear on it doesn't have the clock to do it.
Shame the HDMI port on it can't do 120Hz.
When affordable 4k displays with 120Hz inputs come out and Darbee has a unit with decent 5:5 as well as their image filters I'll get one.

I honestly couldn't say.... whenever I push my info button it says "1080p" or "720p". Sometimes when the kids watch their cartoons they're 480i but the oppo does it's "upconversion" and I never noticed any Darbee effect coming through. I'm almost positive my shaw box outputs 720 but I only watch about an hour of cable broadcasting in a week but the local news station isn't the best source to be critical of.

Shaw as a BDU distributes material in three resolutions. 480i, 720p and 1080i.
You can configure your shaw STB to output the NATIVE RESOLUTION of the show/channel you watch and that BDU and STB is the optimum source to feed the Darbee in Canada.
ABC for example is 720p whilst CBS is 1080i on shaw. They do recompress the MUX but they do not change the original source format/resolution unlike Bell that converts EVERYTHING to 720p including sourced CBS at 1080i.
Having your cable box change it's HDMI format/resolution output to match the source is the right way to have it configured for use with an outboard scaler!
These are secret menus accessible in different ways depending on the box.
Your Oppo should be configured to send a 1080p24Hz progressive signal for DVD movie content and a 480i60 signal for video content. For Bluray it should be set to 1080p24 and 5:5 turned on if your TV supports it.
