Hello to all
I just purchased a WD TV Live, and It's a struggle trying to find a way to integrate my XDA-1(for music since I can play FLAC). I have HDMI going from the WD TV Live to my receiver and another HDMI from the receiver to the TV. The WD Live has Optical and AV out. I can connect the XDA-1 via optical on the WD TV Live, but would the receiver still be used for volume control? I would be grateful for any assistance.

With the XDA-1, it's best to set the volume all the way up to 80 and leave it there. Then use the receiver's volume control.

On my wdtv I have the option to output audio via the hdmi or the optical, not both at the same time. would it work if you came out of the receiver optical ? (hdmi in to receiver from wdtv optical out to xda) for when you want to listen to music. I don't know if this will work.... or when you want to listen to music change the setting in the wdtv pita though.
nevermind was just reading the manual and you can't pass hdmi audio to digital outputs on pioneer

Thx for reminding me if the volume control issue. If I connect the TV Live via optical to the XDA-1. It wouldn't be necessary to also connect the DAC to the receiver. Correct?

@fattykid, thx. I can change the audio output to stereo, optical only or HDMI only. I'm assuming to use the DAC I would change this to optical only. It is a PITA.

If connecting the output of the DAC direct to the AMP then you'd use the XDA-1 volume control and could bypass the receiver entirely. Is that what you're asking? |

I'm sorry for the confusion. I have my TV and WD TV live connected to my receiver. Through the TV Live I am able to play my FLAC files. I'm asking if I can connect my XDA-1 to the TV Live using the optical cable (max volume) Would I still be able to control the main volume through the receiver.
