Just read some info released by Cameron that Avatar 2 will be shot in native 4k. Whether your a fan or not it's hard to argue that this movie will be a stellar way to get the 4 k ball rolling. He is also considering high frame rate filming like in the new Hobbit movies but can't decide. Anyone see the Hobbit in the 48 fps? I heard good and bad but never saw it in theaters.

Yes saw the 48fps version in a large theater. Trouble was that while it initially looked fantastic, (no blur in motion sweeping segemnts and crisp focus throughout) the fact that IMHO the movie mostly sucked just distracted me and I lost interest. A bad movie delivered in a fantastic way is still a bad movie. (part II was worse - will not be seeing part III...sigh). All that aside the 48fps is a great move forward in delivery - all they need to work on now is the price of tickets here...

Funny because I though the first movie was fantastic (haven't seen part 2 yet). And while I enjoyed the Lord Of The Rings trilogy I couldn't stand all the damn whining and crying between Frodo and Sam, to the point where I needed to fast forward scenes.

It was actually the relationship between the ranger and the elf that drove me crazy, completely slowed the pace off the trilogy!
