Hi Is XPA-2 a good mach for KEF Q11? Is pair of XPA-100s would work better? KEFs are 200w max. Would XPA-2 300w be too much?

You will be JUST FINE. Unless you are insane* *cranks pre-amp to maximum keeps it there, redlighting it, audible clipping, 24/7 party all day levels.

My friend runs his bookshelf speakers with the XPR-2 which puts out 1000 watts/channel @ 4 ohms. And I will have no hesitation hooking up my speakers (400 watts) to bi amped XPR-1's capable of 2000 watts a channel.

Lol. That seams a little intense. I do see he switches gear often and like the idea of always being able to swap out speakers and know you have everything behind it solid is comforting. I'm trying to get that going myself. Just not the XPR level though.

I must have missed something. Nick

To answer the OP, go for it. The amount of power an amplifier produces depends on how much you turn up the volume. You could put a 1meg watt amp on a 100 speaker and run it for ever as long as you didn't turn up the volume to a point where the voice coil of the speaker could no longer dissipate the heat. So the bottom line is, you will be fine and your speakers will let you know if they are in distress. If you hear distortion at higher levels, turn it down. Lonnie

Lonnie You tell em Lonnie, Im running Klipsch 28 with a rating of 150watts with a set of XPR-1 s and there is no distress from the speakers,,,,and boy do they sound sweet.
