I've spent some time searching for information to do this, but I haven't found a solution. I'm wondering if it's possible to take ripped FLAC (audio only) and MKV (concert video and audio) files from a hard drive and play them on a media player through my UMC-200 via hdmi. I know that I could use a HTPC to make playlists for FLAC files, but I haven't seen how to make playlists of individual songs that have been ripped to a hard drive from blu rays and DVDs. I have over 60 concert videos and would love to be able to make a playlist that would take individual songs/tracks from different concerts and play them in any order I want. I would use this feature for personal playback and parties. My first choice would be a media player that allows this option, but I'm not even sure I can accomplish this with a HTPC.
I would appreciate any info regarding media players or software that would allow this option.
Thanks, Matt

DVD Audio Extractor will let you pull off the tracks into FLAC format and then you can treat them as normal FLAC albums. That's what I do.

I was hoping to keep the video as well so that I can watch each song/track. It looks like I could use a bluray/DVD ripper program to rip a selected portion of the bluray at a time. I suppose I could rip each song individually into a mkv video with FLAC audio file and store all the songs of a disc into it's own folder. This would be very time consuming, and would still require a media player that allows playlists. I was hoping that someone else has more experience and could suggest a preferred ripping program and media player that would accomplish this. I would imagine that others would like the ability.

What unencrypted bluray concert disks do you have that allow you to do this legally?

Depending on where you are in the world it can be completely legal, as it is merely considered format-shifting. Cracking the encryption may or may not be a problem; again it depends on where the OP is in the world.

Okay. Does anyone know of a media player that allows playlists of music and personal video files without the use of a computer?

Thank you for the recommendation hemster. I checked out the Boxee website and forum, and it appears that Samsung has bought Boxee and there hasn't been any updates of the product since. I'm not sure if they will be offering a new product following the buy out, but for now it appears to be an abandoned product. I will continue my search of a media player with the option of playlists. I keep getting the feeling that I'm missing something because I would think that lots of people want to use playlists for their audio and video files (not just "play all" and "repeat" functions). I'm sure that it could be done on a computer, but that would be a last resort because I don't want the hassle of having my computer on and connected to my UMC-200 to accomplish it.

I never use playlists but I think the Popcorn Hour players support them. May be worth a look. I only use mine for full videos so I wouldn't have tried this.
