New to the amp thing for sterio, but when i play music, the power amps we turn wide open and control sound with the mains on the board...should ya do the same with these? Im using a Marantz receiver as a preamp into two XPA 100 monoblocks....should i turn them wide open and control level with the receiver..and to avoid the power on thump...turn them on first with volumes down? Prbably stupid questions but hey, thats the place Im at...

Hello,
There are no gain controls on the XPA-100 amps, so no. To prevent any thump, always turn on the Marantz first, then the XPA-100s. Turn the amps off first, then the Marantz when powering down This is also true with PA equipment - amps on last, off first.
Side note - I would't recommend running your pro amps with the gain set to full. You can still get full power from them, even with the gain set to 50% or less. I strongly suggests that you research setting gain structure in your PA system to fully realize its potential, lower the noise floor, and prevent speaker and/or amplifier damage.

Agreed! Amps on last, off first. Additioanally, most PA amps don't have the power on circuitry that a good stero amp does. When I was gigging, the QSC amps we used thumped regardless of power on sequence. Hello, There are no gain controls on the XPA-100 amps, so no. My pair of Crown CE 4000 amps don't ever thump...they have very nice power on/off muting circuits. Still, amps on last, off first. C

If your Marants has trigger outs you can use those as well.

So what are the trigger outs for exactly. Are they to trigger the amps on if you have the amps plugged in the the back of the Marantz? I think it does have trigger out.just got it so not real sure.

I don't know how your marantz does. I assume it doesn't. I leave mine turned on. I find it sounds better that way. Others find different, just so you know. Enjoy your amps!
