I recently purchased the XDA-2 as my 1st DAC and it seems to really make a difference. However, while listening to music from my computer thru USB or from my NAD cd player connected with optical cable, the XDA-2 intermittently glitches. The display will jump around from 44.1, 48, 176, and even 192 khz which produces distortion. When using the USB source, I've tried ASRC on and off, with the best results with it on. The music files are mostly 44k stuff from iTunes. What's more baffling is listening to cd's. Why is the XDA-2 so unstable with this source? Is there something I'm missing? Does the unit auto upconvert? I'm thinking about returning the unit because I only have a few days left on the 30 day window.
Any advice?
Computer: Core2 duo with 6 gb ram Windows 7 64bit iTunes (latest version as of today) USB 2 USB 3 (haven't tried) Minimal apps and services running

If I had to guess, I would say your optical cable is damaged.

Oh it happens on BOTH sources eh? USB and optical? I think you need to call Emotiva and get a service return RMA on your XDA-2.
