My 40% off card is burning a hole in my pocket. First, I am the most interested in how Dirac is going to work in the XMC-1 for music. After trying several room correction programs I stopped searching when I heard Trinnov. The XMC-1 with Dirac is the only processor that has got me interested to trying something new. I will buy the XMC-1 to compare Dirac vs Trinnov, make a decision and sell one of the processors. That should satisfy me for 6 months or so until something new comes out, lol.

Yep, April 1, for sure. Good luck with that. Various months have been mentioned over the last couple of years (and they've come and gone) and here we are...still waiting. I'll believe it when I see one owned by an actual customer. Call me old fashioned, but I've seen Lucy pull the football away from Charlie Brown so many times now that it's become a bit of a joke. Dirac seems to have a lot of nice features. Assuming it works in this unit and it's THAT much better than Audyssey XT32 (which you can find in units at around $1k these days), then perhaps $2k might be a decent price point. Time will tell.

Sadly, I am putting the XMC-1 in the same category as the Loch Ness monster.
Belated April Fools.

So still no official release date or anything at all? I haven't been here in quite a while so forgive my ignorance.

(I wanted to post this under another thread on the XMC-1 pricing but the thread was closed/locked). Assuming this product is only 90% of what it could be, at $5000 it would be a great product. Right now we have the Integras/Onkyo’s/Denon’s in the $3000 price point then we get to jump to $20,000 !!!!! Uhhh, have you heard of the Anthem D2V, Krell Foundation, about a dozen others that are under $10K? I wouldn't touch the XMC-1 at $5K. RMC-1, maybe.

As I only have a 2 channel system I may end up getting the new Dirac MiniDSP. That is shipping now.

That might be a good choice for people who already have good amplification and a decent processor that just needs help on room correction. A LOT cheaper than buying a $2k processor if you want Dirac RC.

I'll be looking forward to reading your review on your Anthem D2v or Krell Foundation when you get one! I have never heard the Foundation, but I bought a slightly used D2v from eBay last year. At $4550, nothing < $10 K can hold a candle to it. So there's my review. Sorry, but I have a life and therefore lack the time to write extensive reviews.

That's more like an opinion - a review would tell us why you think that.

I guess those of us that write more than 1 liners don't have a life. Could have sworn I had one around here somewhere....

I most certainly have and neither the Krell nor Anthem have a time AND frequency based room correction system. Anything other than a product that has that capability is far from state of the art. As I noted, the XMC has the ability to be a great product depending on reliability and feature set and overall performance. The issue now is that be the time CEDIA gets here there will probably be object based surround technologies. and unless the XMC is software updatable, it will be out of date very quickly. Time will tell.
