Yeah my house routinely has to withstand mini earthquakes from a nearby rock quarry, so the relatively small shake it gets with 4 catalysts won't be what brings it down! You mean 4 SubMersives I assume!

> there will be a few/some/many issues with the initial release. But, again based upon my experience with this company, they will make things right. I guess you're not familiar with the UMC-1... Whats wrong with yours and why haven't YOU done something about it? It is too easy to just to pile on vs having a constructive criticism. Please if you have an issue, post it up and lets discuss them separately. If things are as bad as you imply (and yes by your post you implied them) why continue to "suffer" with the product? Geez dude relax a little will ya. If you would have read his post without a chip on your shoulder you would have seen that the poster also mentioned his faith that Emo will "make things right" if there is an issue with the XMC. I didn't take his post to be inflammatory at all. I agree with him. I had a UMC-1 and loved the sound when it worked right. But I often had audio drop outs that drove me nuts. That along with the lack of 3D support led me to ultimately sell it. My original plan was to get the XMC but the numerous delays along with the price increase drove me elsewhere. I am still keeping my eye on the XMC though and if things go well with it I will probably ditch my Marantz and go back to Emo. Fingers crossed.

(I wanted to post this under another thread on the XMC-1 pricing but the thread was closed/locked). And there are now a couple of more: Trinnov, which has some other functionality in addition to digital room correction (and runs on a VERY EXPENSIVE platform) and Dirac. Dirac is currently available on a PC for about $800 (which I have been using for about a year) and on the Datasat RS20i for about $20,000. Theta Digital announced approximately 300 years ago their new Casablanca IV with Dirac and it is still not available and it too will retail for about $20,000. Dirac (at least the PC version) has much more flexibility than Audyssey and the specificity of the setup instructions provide increased repeatability as you execute the measurement process. This is a little bit of an oversimplification: Both Pioneer and Yamaha have their own proprietary room correction solutions. Audyssey, MACC, and YPAO all have their supporters and detractors. So why will I buy the XMC-1 as soon as I can get it? (1) it has the ability to be the SSP with the best digital room correction product (that costs less than a small car) on the market; (2) it is a product that comes from a company that is dedicated to providing high end solutions at close to mass market pricing; (3) after sale customer support that is hard to argue with (at least in my experience as I have owned their amps, preamps and DAC’s); (4) a proven track record of making things right when there is an issue and (5) a try-it-to-buy-it approach. If it turns out to be a piece of crap, I send it back and continue using what I am already using. While we don't know yet whether it will be the "best digital room correction product (that costs less than a small car) on the market", I can't really disagree with anything else you wrote, especially your point #5.

It's all going to come down to the software.
Hopefully the extra time is being spent on the code. For the most part, Emo hardware is trouble-free.

OK.....Podcast......I'm waiting....... Don't expect much to be said, if a Podcast is available. I think we get more info from people in the know that post on the forum, than we do in Podcasts. See the comments KeithL made in: Dirac PC Version

To all my fellow Emotivians... share your views, discuss them, agree to disagree if necessary, but please remember to refrain from getting personal. The Hatfield-McCoy wars has moved on to other forums. Go there if you wish to engage in the nastiness. Here... it's all about the music (and movies). Attention all planets of the solar federation.....
