I figure one of you geniuses should be able to help....and yes, I've searched the web and all the "knowledgeable" techies writing the answers must all be programmers....quite confusing, really...
I am using the latest incarnation of iTunes, version 11.1.5.5.
All I want to do is export my iTunes library into Excel, so that I may sort and edit, etc, etc. I only want the Artist and Album...nothing else. That's all, nothing too difficult. And the fact that I'm NOT an Excel guru doesn't help...
Appreciate any help. Thanks very much!

It's easier than you might think. Open your library in Excel. Hit control-a to select all and then control-c to copy. Switch to Excel. Open a new document. Paste. Done! You can delete the columns you don't want if the other data bothers you.

Thanks for trying to help, but I'm afraid I don't follow....if I open my iTunes library, in the left column at the top is the word "Music". If I select that, I don't have an option in the menu bar to "Select All" nor to copy. If I right click on "Music" I get an option to Export, which I have done, then pasted into Excel, but it will paste all of the songs from each artist or album, which I don't want. Only want to copy the Artist and Album from iTunes, not the song list as well.

I misunderstood! Well, starting from the song list, getting a list of artists and albums is a matter of throwing out the song names, track numbers, etc, so you're just left with the artist and album names, then removing all duplicates so that you have one single list. Depending on what version of Excel you have, instructions like www.wikihow.com/Remove-Duplicates-in-Excel might be helpful. It seems like this should be more straightforward but iTunes really isn't great about sharing its data.
